Democratic Oregon gubernatorial candidate Tina Kotek held off Republican Christine Drazan in a surprisingly close race in a deep blue state.

The race gained national attention in recent months with polling consistently showing Drazan and Kotek neck-and-neck as they battled over gender and sexuality topics being taught in schools, campaign financing, crime and Oregon's economy.

The Fox News Power Rankings listed the race as a toss-up.

The results were heavily influenced by independent candidate and former Democrat Betsy Johnson, who grabbed more than 8% of the vote and appeared to take a sizable chunk of support from Kotek.

same is true for WA state - it is so messed up, the Republican has to get over thirty percent in the greater Seattle area to have a chance. In Oregon, it’s even worse, completely dominated by Portlandia.

OR is inching toward the right track. It could be helpful if more conservatives moved in from deep-red states like UT or WY.

RATS have perfected the art of libtard colonization. Look at Montana and parts of Idaho, for example. GOP should adopt a similar strategy.

Oregon could be even more progressive and diverse if it had a heterosexual governor.

Face it. The moral fiber of a clear majority of people in Oregon has thoroughly rotted. They have not only enthusiastically embraced the unrestrained killing of preborn human life but have legalized marijuana and hallucinatory drug use even for adolescents, barbaric transgender mutilating surgery and Stassi like political violence. It is not a good place for decent, rational people to live, work or raise a child. The evil Tina Kotek and people like her are what will be elected and empowered in Oregon. After all it is a democracy and people vote for people that reflect their values.

Yep. I had hopes with a big red wave this one might tip despite it. Sort of like Trump’s 2016 victory where we beat the margin of fraud.

Oregon has the full vote by mail structure, right? Weird how the Dems always win.

This will be interesting. If Drazan had won, she would have been addressed as “Madam Governor.”

We probably should find out what pronouns Kotek uses so we don’t offend anybody . . .

“The independent screwed the whole thing up”

It ok in 4 years we’ll give it another go.

Eventually, the cash flow that keeps Portland operating as a dominant liberal hub will deflate & the state will rebalance to a more normal moderate position.(Oregon has never been a conservative state even when it was Republican)

Also, the state democrats lost their super majority in the state senate, which means no tax increases for Kotek.
Kotek is going to have a lot of trouble moving forward.

Oregon is the perfect example of why you don’t want a bunch of schoolmarms & guys that think like schoolmarms running everything.

“Many of them are mediocre, they don’t have enough talent.”

Also, they’ve had mail in voting in that state since the 90s, if I’m not mistaken. The voters voted for it. State offices went Democrat the next election and it has only gotten worse.

The Left got its hold on power and they ain’t letting go. See the same laws enacted in Michigan and Pennsylvania, probably NY, in the next year or two. The Democrats aren’t going to waste any time.

It’s funny. I have a friend in Idaho who as some type of Republican from days gone by.

He seems to think all the development, etc is a good thing and can’t be stopped. I bring up to him articles talking about how so many newcomers to the Boise area are coming from Seattle and California, bringing their politics with them and he gets angry. I don’t know what I’m talking about. I would think his argument would be with the folks writing these articles and how they’re documenting all the Democrats, new arrivals, that are running for and getting the city councils, county commissions, zoning boards, school boards and, IIRC, now the Mayor of Boise.

These transplants are an absolute cancer. I read and sent an article about how folks from Boise, families there for generations, are being forced out of their homes because of the rising taxes. He says I’m crazy.

Someone commented that it isn’t as bad in Montana since the winters are so brutal that the transplants are bailing as soon as spring rolls around.

The independent was a former Democrat actually siphoning votes away from the Democrat - as time went on more Democrats were unfortunately coming home and the independent lost support...
