Charlie Hurt: Establishment Republicans Are Wrong to Blame Donald Trump for Midterm Losses
Breitbart ^ | 10 Nov 2022 | BREITBART NEWS

The Republican establishment is wrong to blame former President Donald Trump for losses in Tuesday’s midterm elections, Washington Times Opinion Editor Charlie Hurt said on Wednesday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow.

In a wide-ranging interview, much of discussion centered on former President Trump and his role in the midterms. Hurt said that Trump-backed candidates like Ohio’s new Senator-elect J.D. Vance and Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis were victorious because they ran strong campaigns on MAGA issues.

Breitbart · Charlie Hurt – November 9, 2022

Hurt rejected the idea that establishment Republicans have a case for blaming Trump for midterm losses. He noted that the Republican establishment does not have a great track record with picking winners. For example, former Sens. Martha McSally of Arizona and Kelly Loeffler of Georgia had been handpicked by the Republican establishment to fill vacant Senate seats in red states, but both of them lost their re-election bids in 2020 to Democrats.

“These are two candidates who didn’t even have to face voters,” Hurt said. “It gives them the greatest advantage that any senator has in a Senate race, which is incumbency. And both of those women, who were handpicked by establishment Republicans and dropped in the Senate seats, couldn’t hold on to their seats.”

He continued, “So yes, you can blame Donald Trump if you want to, for one lost seat in Georgia, [but] we would not have [Georgia’s Democrat Sen.] Raphael Warnock if not for establishment Republicans dropping a terrible candidate in Kelly Loeffler into that seat.”

“Establishment” Republicans better watch out. They have self-selected themselves to be “enemies” of Donald Trump.

Donald Trump counterpunches. Hard.

From the NYPOST:
Their losses had a ripple effect down-ballot, costing the Republicans not just a US Senate seat they once held as well as the governor’s office, but also three seats in the House of Representatives that were up for grabs plus the majority in the statehouse.

Uhmmmm.....funny, that wasn’t the excuse for his loss in 2020 and our overwhelming performance otherwise.

You pooo Sees can’t take responsibility for your side of the equation.

Oh, and Oz was a rather weak candidate but, Penn voted for Fester.

“If you’re a Republican in Pennsylvania and you look at Donald Trump’s bigfooting of the people in Pennsylvania and the implosion of his candidates in Pennsylvania, you’re pretty upset,” said Urban, a Washington-based strategist who grew up in Beaver County, Pa.

Urban said his phone has been ringing all week with county chairs and committee people who tell him they’ve had it with Trump.

“They said, ‘Look, we’re done. We’re done with him. He cost us this election and we’re done.’”

Right....

I agree. There may be some things wrong with Trump, but there has also been a lot of good. I imagine that without Trump’s support we would have done many times worse. And it is pretty hard to beat the fraud in the big cities.

All the blast Trump stuff is just a trick to divide conservatives across the board. And it appears to be working. A divided community will fall.

There is enough blame to go around.

Trying to lay this solely at Trumps feet is wrong.

Trying to say Trump had nothing to do with it at all is equally wrong.

The GOPe ran Tudor Dixon a late entry elitist named pro-life no exception for rape and incest nobody trust fund horror film actress who took zero advantage of free TV and radio interview time leading up to the election.

They (purposely? they do this for a living you know) opened themselves to a petition challenge. How much money changed hands?

To say the GOPe sucks is a gross understatement.

Trump had nothing to do with this.

He’s the good guy.

Chew on that for a while.

Lindsey Graham did the most damage with his nationwide abortion ban quote. Gave the Rats the soundbite they needed.

Yes, Trump doesn’t take losing well. His mistake is saying things publicly that every other politician says privately.

Over the last two days Trump seems to have had a near melt down. He needs to compose himself. He is attacking his potential rivals when his guns should be blasting Mitch and the massive cheat machine the rats have built. His support is decaying by attacking our guys.

“So the team loses, but it’s not the coach’s fault??”

Without Trump we would’ve lost stunningly.

And we made gains in states that could morph red in the next couple of years. It wasn’t the monster loss that the MSM is touting, and that you’re buying in to. They’re doing a psy-ops and it appears to be working.

He’s slamming the Media’s blame-Trump and redirection to DeSantis and Youngkin, and you call that a meltdown?

For those of you who don’t have TDS, keep an open mind and focus on the coordinated manipulation of public opinion against Trump. Trump is not speaking to you — it’s a shot across the bow against those that intend to embrace the Establishment.
