Carville on Democrats running in Florida: ‘Better off looking harder at Mississippi’

Democratic strategist James Carville said the party would be “better off looking harder at Mississippi” than Florida following the overwhelming GOP success in the Sunshine State in this year’s midterm elections.

Carville told MSNBC’s Joy Reid on Thursday that Democrats don’t lose “that bad” in Mississippi, saying a large Black population in the state means potential exists for Democratic success there.

Don’t discount the Mississippi comment - they worked many years to turn Georgia and Virginia - they no doubt will work on other deep red states to flip. We have to work on these states just as hard...even those supposedly “in the bag” for us as it can slip away if we are not looking.

Carville is right. Once black population hits 25% it gets a lot easier to elect Dems. You only need about 1 of 4 whites to vote Dem and the races get real close.

Mississippi and S. Carolina could be prime targets for Dems. That is one reason having a black Republican Senator like Tim Scott in S.Carolina is important.

One of THE most important things for Republicans to do in the next couple years is enact Florida style strict election integrity laws in North Carolina, Georgia and Arizona.

It would be a great idea to do the same in other states too, but we will have both houses of the legislature and the governor in those 3 key states.

We need to work on getting the same in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan.

I'm from Mississippi originally and if that's what he's saying, he's correct. Mississippi blacks will vote 98-99% democrat. Mississippi is a giant welfare sinkhole and the majority of blacks in the state live off of public assistance, hence their voting overwhelmingly democrat.

All red states should implement Fl’s voting laws to restore ballot box integrity. I suspect the reason FL had a “wave” is the integrity of the ballot box was restored.
