ori Weaver Hawkins with AAA says the country currently has about a 25-day supply of diesel. But that metric has been misinterpreted by some.
“We may have a 25-day supply of diesel, but that doesn’t mean in 25 days we’re going to run out of diesel,” said Weaver Hawkins.
Weaver Hawkins says that would only be the case if diesel stopped being produced. But reports have prompted some panic among consumers, leading them to buy in large quantities.
“That does cause problems,” Weaver Hawkins said. “It will cause disruption.”
She says diesel producers are trying to play catch-up to reach a normal supply of between 35 and 40 days, after so many refineries shut down during the pandemic.

right, no diesel...no trucks to build wind farms and deliver solar panels...no mining to make batteries..no railroads to transport oil from Canada (keystone)...the whole world will come to an abrupt stop.
think of trucks and railroads around the world getting turned off since there’s nothing in the tanks. oh my!
Production is fine. The shortfall is contained within the product sold to Europe. They pay top dollar forcing US consumers to pay same. Farmers will have painful planting season next spring if this continues. There should be at least a 15% export tax on every barrel exported out of the US.

By Chunzi Xu (Bloomberg) –The US is exporting diesel at the fastest ever rate as the global market’s thirst for fuel remains insatiable.
As much as 1.39 million barrels a day of diesel has left the US Gulf Coast so far this month, around 10% higher than the previous daily record for month set in July, 2017, according to oil analytics firm Vortexa, which began trading the data in 2016. Adding gasoline, fuel exports out of the Gulf Coast topped 2 million barrels a day in the first half of July, also a record
Friend of mine is a truck driver for some company in Utah...the company IS “concerned”
Container trucks don’t run on good will.
“If you don’t use Diesel we’ll be OK. Don’t panic and use Diesel or we’ll run out! This is how it’s always worked.”
Good deal. Now just tell that to the trains and semis and construction equipment and garbage trucks and see how it goes over.
biden will make sure you run out of diesel right after Nov 8.
I never knew my 36 gallon tank could cause a fuel shortage.
I think I’ll keep it full always.
I figure there are spot shortages in rural areas and that some rationing is happening behind the scenes. Do I trust the government saying there are 25 days of supply left in reserve if diesel production stops today—no way.
I have always bought an extra can or two of food on trips to the grocery store and will continue. When I see gas shortages cropping up then you know it’s going to get serious quickly. My wife’s co-worker is a shift manager at a local walmart distribution center and he’s indicating that in the last week they would be expecting shipments of 1800 pallets and have been receiving 600 pallet shipments. If this trend continues not good.
Of all the fuels, diesel is the easiest to manufacture. One of the problems is that we have not organized our farm markets to support the production of biodiesel.
Consider: Farmers grow algae that is compresed to squeze out the oils, which is then process via the common biodiesel conversion. This could be done at the local farmers coop. Farmers get a portion of the biodiesel returned to them, the excess is sold into the market The market has helped aleviate three issues:
1 - Farmers lower their fuel costs to almost zero
2 - Diesel market now has a supply of diesel fuel that can not be disrupted by OPEC
3 - The environment is better off as the bio fuel is recycling carbon dioxide.
When officials say “don’t panic”, the wise course of action is to panic.

Was about 2.40 pre child sniffer.
Politics doesn’t determine the % of crude from a given oil field that is diesel. Geology doesn’t care about politics.
My son is a trucker. The company called him the other day to tell him their telematics showed he’s idling too much. They are concerned. Not sure what the plan is for winter to keep the sleeper warm.
After so many refineries shut down during the ***pandemic***.
Biden caused the shut down of (6) refineries by closing the pipeline down and drilling.
Ladies and gentlemen you flight will be delayed for 35 to 40 days don’t call us we will call you.
