Californians voted for permanent Daylight Saving Time. So why are we setting clocks back Sunday?

Four years ago, a majority of Californians voted in favor of a ballot measure empowering the Legislature to end to the biannual ritual of clock-changing for Daylight Saving Time.

This Sunday, Californians will still be setting their clocks back an hour.

What happened?

A MANDATE FROM THE PEOPLE

Then the bill died in committee. Then Chu left office and the cause lost its champion. Irvine Republican Assemblyman Steven Choi took up the mantle this year, with Assembly Bill 2868. It failed get the required two-thirds vote required in order for it to pass. WILL

More than 7.1 million Californians, nearly 60% of the total vote, said yes to 2018’s Proposition 7. The ballot measure authorized state lawmakers to pass legislation putting an end to the time change.

It had been championed by then-Assemblyman Kansen Chu, D-San Jose. After it passed, Chu introduced a bill that would put California on permanent Daylight Saving Time, something that would require permission from the federal government.

But Chu pulled the bill and turned it into a two-year measure saying, “My main goal will always be to stop the practice of switching back and forth, and I am dedicated to make this a reality.”

I thought it was national. I thought the House and Senate voted for it, but no one could find out exactly when the votes happened or who voted yea and who voted nay.

I love the time changes and changing all those clocks. I hope we do this forever and forever and forever...

The headline says everything there is to say about Leftists.
California is NOT the USA. But, Leftists believe wholeheartedly that they are our country. And, when things don’t go their way they are totally perplexed. Perplexed is usually followed by off-the-charts, unhinged anger, and temper tantrums.

The Senate voted for it unanimously (by accident - it was a procedural screw up). It then died in the House.

How is it that possible that they could vote for it by accident?

Lesson learned: ballot initiatives which amount to nothing more than a polite request to the legislature to execute the will of the people will be ignored.

“The ballot measure authorized state lawmakers to pass legislation...”

That’s interesting and somewhat odd. Usually ballot measures do the deed and not merely authorize the legislature to pass a bill.

I hate daylight savings time. I want to get up with the sun and not when it’s pitch dark. Too bad we can’t have year-round standard time.

A part of us morons in Indiana have set our clocks back this Saturday/Sunday night due to daylight savings time.

Hey idiots, there are still 24 hours in each day!

Only if the day identifies as having 24 hours a day.

Because Newsom and his democrat criminal cronies in the state house want the little people that what they want doesn’t matter.

I believe a change like this must be passed by the state legislature and then approved by Congress … and therefore isn’t subject to the simple whims of a state’s voters like other ballot initiatives are.

Ha.

How many ballot measures have simply been ignored, overturned.

This guy thinks there is law in California.

Proposition 187 comes immediately to mind. Also proposition 8.
