Operation Flashpoint: Authorities in Arizona demonstrate bombs made with common chemicals

PHOENIX - Officials with the FBI and Homeland Security have a warning for people to be on the lookout for those who may be collecting materials to make homemade bombs.

While there are no specific threats at this time, the warning comes amid rising tensions across the country, as well as several big events that are set to take place in the coming weeks, from the Midterm elections to the 2023 Super Bowl and the annual WM Phoenix Open, both of which are held in the Phoenix area.

The power of explosives were on full display in Phoenix on Nov. 3 as part of Operation Flashpoint. It was a loud and clear message from law enforcement for people to say something if they see something.

"If you’re not reporting this type of information to us, it is really difficult for law enforcement to react," said Homeland Security bomb expert Chuck Leas.

The demonstration showed how powerful small, one-pound bombs can be.

"Terrorists would add fragmentation to these blasts to increase the [lethality of] any of the weapon, and do harm to the public," said FBI bomb technician Matthew Lightfoot.

During the event, law enforcement officials told the public what to look out for, especially people working in hardware stores, pool shops, and even hair salons. These are places that sell everyday chemicals, from bleach to baby oil, that could be combined to create chaos.

"They are truly the eyes and ears who know their product and other customers, and are in the best position to identify suspicious behavior and report it to law enforcement," said Andrew Seiffert with Homeland Security.

Law enforcement officials say outreach programs like this work. However, they did not cite specific examples successes. Rather, they recalled bombings from Boston to Oklahoma City that went undetected, and saying they would rather prevent a crime than solve one.

"The more the community knows about what to look for, how to keep an eye out for one another, that helps law enforcement to prevent these things from occurring," said Steve Martos with Phoenix Police.

It looks like the Feds believe half the country have been taking lessons from Burt Gummer:“A few household chemicals in the proper proportions.”I wouldn't be surprised if the FIB said they found instructions for household chemical bombs among the items they seized from President Trump during their raid on Mar-a-Lago

Sounds like the FBI is tipping their hand as to their next operation, a serious of bombs made from household chemicals. They will then set up surveillance at hardware stores, grocery stores, etc., to track how buys household cleaning products.

The FBI would NEVER perpetrate a false-flag bombing.

Seems like there was a book in the late 70’s early 80’s called “Still life with woodpecker” that detailed such things as well.

99% of private homes have materials that could, potentially, be used to construct a crude bomb. If, if, the elections go our way, there will definitely be violence in the streets. The left always, always resort to violence.

“What are you wearing ‘Jake’ from the fbi?” “Uh, desert camos?” As if they don’t already have certain portions of their number who are all too familiar with this sort of activity. Just make sure to bring a couple red MAGA hats to leave as “evidence”. Oh, and some newly initated blog too. Maybe something about kneecapping someone.

I guess I’m ignorant although I hold an advanced degree in biochemistry I can’t think of any common household chemicals that would make an effective bomb. (unless nitric acid is considered a common household chemical or maybe match heads, who knows?) I suspect that the feebs are trying to sow a little panic and further set the stage for prosecution of individuals for simply having information. I seem to remember reading that the ATF considers instructions for putting together an automatic weapon a machine gun. I guess it’s kind of like a pop tart eaten into the the shape of a gun is considered a gun.

This is pure insanity. They are making the psyops connection of Conservatives = devices. I agree with those who smell a false flag event coming. They are setting us up for a frame.

Sounds like the FBI is running a how-to class on bomb construction.

ammonia + bleach

the product is “thermal sensitive” and “shock sensitive”

many Freepers have blown up toilets this way

Now there's a book title I haven't heard since the 70's!

The DNC Stasi (read FBI) follow a pattern, in order to get maximum terror for the false flag ops.

I have been told by reliable sources that the alphabet agencies can accuse almost anyone they want with possessing bomb making materials. Being a self taught plumber and electrician, literate in computer hardware and software, and a reloader puts me high on their list.

I hadn't heard about that policy. If that's the case, how does the ATF plan to register someone's brain into the NFA Registry if a person happens to know how to build a machine gun from plans stored in their heads?

but I should add,

the reason you don’t hear about this explosive being used by terrorists is because it’s so sensitive, whoever makes a big batch is likely to blow themselves up first

This would be like local cops arresting you after a traffic stop and charging you with "possession of burglary tools" for having a screwdriver in your car.

Gee, I wonder if the FBI made sure to identify everyone who came to check out their bombs.

Hard to imagine a better opportunity for collecting facial recognition pics and cellphone data for future crime-solving, plotter recruiting, framing, etc.

In the 60’ we had “The Anarchist Cook Book”. I believe it also had bomb making instructions.

IIRC, some of the stuff was OK, but a lot of it was quite sketchy.
