Thoughtful Monologue, Tucker Carlson Discusses the Potential Impact of a Free Speech Twitter
Conservative Treehouse ^ | 10/29/22 | Sundance

Tucker Carlson used his opening monologue Friday evening to outline his perspective on the Elon Musk takeover of the social media platform Twitter. Generally, Carlson does a good job framing the big picture of national events; however, Carlson outdid himself on this contextualized delivery.

While the underlying premise of Carlson’s position is structured on a yet-to-be-seen possibility of free speech, the context for the importance of the moment is very well presented. I hope that Tucker Carlson is correct in regard to the altruistic intent of Mr. Musk

Twitter is the linchpin in the government’s censorship of social media. When the platform self censors the government censors generally only provide guidance. The regime can’t stand the disinfecting sunlight of a “Free Speech Twitter”. I assume DC will now start the direct federal censorship of Twitter.

A Twitter that allows NY Times stories about Hershel Walker paying for abortions *and* NY Post stories about Hunter’s laptop is fine with me.

I must have been banned by Twitter at least 20 times through the years. There was nothing more frustrating than reading utter crap posted by the left and being unable to confront them on it, they ticked me off so much.

I couldn't agree more except to say that there MUST be consequences for outright media lies. Journalism malpractice has to stop.

If Twitter self-censored before and no longer does, what gov’t mechanism exists to force them?

Twitter is the linchpin in the government’s censorship of social media.

Musk’s purchase of Twitter will be the linchpin in creating a super app similar to the Chinese app WeChat.

It will be a social app on steroids. Musk has stated his admiration for WeChat which, in addition to providing 24/7 surveillance data to the Chinese government, is the leading cashless payment system in China.

”Free speech Twitter” is a disingenuous way to get people on board with fully embracing the digitization of human behavior. There is nothing “free” about it.

What Elon Musk has said publicly — and in private texts — about X, his idea for an 'everything app'

But the issue, for the moment,is with Twitter. Yes,the NY Times may have lied in the story about Walker and the NY Post might have lied about the laptop...but when the story comes from a well known source (a major newspaper,a President or former President, etc) it shouldn’t be censored like the laptop story was in October 2020.

From the businessinsider.com article, describing Musk’s desire to build an “everything app” similar to the Chinese WeChat:

Musk has also discussed creating a social media platform built on a blockchain. The billionaire is known for his love of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Dogecoin.

”I have an idea for a blockchain social media system that does both payments and short text messages/links like Twitter," Musk texted. "You have to pay a tiny amount to register your message on the chain, which will cut out the vest majority of spam and bots."

Musk said the site would have a "massive real-time database" that would keep permanent copies of messages and followers and a "Twitter-like app on your phone" that can access the database in the cloud.

The two things standing out here are that by using the super app that Musk hopes to build (and for which his purchase of Twitter is a perfect launch point), the app will require users to join/access blockchain - the perfect segue to digital ID. That, and the “massive real-time database” keeping permanent copies of....everything.

—So is Twitter to become a Trojan horse, a gift of inestimable value to the people to be paid for at the cost of digitalization of every aspect of their lives? I thought we already had that? THIS Trojan horse is at least one we can, like the tar baby, get joyously stuck in at our own peril.

Twitter would likely be renamed once it encompasses all the robust features that a 24/7 surveillance tool requires.

There is much more to come, but not much to look forward to. You have an interesting definition of “joyous.”

That may well be but a political viewpoint that can differ from the state monopolization of the “truth” is imperative. A continuation of today’s police state censorship will only quicken our descent into America 1984 authoritarianism.

DOJ mandated, uniparty (R) accepted, laws and impedimenta that curtail “misinformation” being trafficked on Twitter. That could be the situation as early as the day after approved by the gang in DC.

The Federal Elections Commission, and it’s enablers are a bigger threat to Free Speech, than Twitter could ever be.

Should those who put up posters against King George during the American Revolution, been required to register with the government, because the “public has a right to know who pays for political speech”?

Should those in Russia who post anti-Putin posters, be required to register with the state, because the public has a right to know who pays for political speech.

Twitter does not have the power to confiscate your property and put you in jail. The FEC / Federal Government does. Ask Dinesh D’Souza.

Oh, I understand completely. Until the regime receives some kind of push back on their creeping (quickly gaining momentum) totalitarianism, they will continue until they’re on our porches, kicking in our doors.
