He has stated his admiration for the Chinese “super app” WeChat. (“If you're in China, you kind of live on WeChat," he said.) Some believe he will use the Twitter purchase as a launch point to create an app similar to WeChat.
WeChat is used by the Chinese government to track and monitor the activities of its citizens. WeChat is essentially a surveillance tool disguised as something else.
The American version that Musk will create will likely have the added benefit of tracking the purchase and ownership of firearms.
