WASHINGTON — A Jan. 6 rioter who dragged former D.C. Police Officer Michael Fanone into the crowd on the steps of the U.S. Capitol was sentenced to 7.5 years in federal prison on Thursday.
Albuquerque Head, a 43-year-old from Tennessee, was sentenced to 90 months in federal prison, a bit shy of the 96 months that prosecutors had requested, but still one of the longest sentences to date in the Capitol riot cases. Head will get credit for the roughly 18 months he's spent locked up already.
Fanone urged Judge Amy Berman Jackson to sentence Head to the maximum, saying that Head had cut his career in law enforcement short. Fanone suffered a heart attack and traumatic brain injury in the Jan. 6 assault, and ended up resigning from the Metropolitan Police Department.
“Show him the same mercy that he showed me on Jan. 6 … which is none," Fanone said.
Head dragged Fanone into the mob on Jan. 6 while yelling “I got one!” Before that, he used a police shield to push against a line of police officers in the western-facing tunnel of the U.S. Capitol, where some of the most violent acts of the insurrection took place. He pleaded guilty to a felony charge of assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers.
Judge Amy Berman Jackson called Head’s actions "some of the darkest acts committed on one of our nation’s darkest days." She pointed out all the opportunities Head had to remove himself from the battle being fought against police, but instead re-armed with a police shield and went back to the front line.
Jackson described former Officer Fanone as Head’s “prey” and his “trophy.” She also described Fanone as “protecting America” during the riot.

I believe that if this occurred at a BLM or ANTIFA riot, no charges would be filed at all. In fact, this may very well have already happened at one of these riots.
Yeah, I understand how this doesn’t square with the BLM riots. But, it doesn’t lessen the crime.
Disagree. We have been shown apt evidence that it's not treated as a crime when other people do it.
The constitution requires equal application of the law, and this is clearly not an equal application of the law.
Who is Ray Epps?
You certainly have more faith in their truthfulness and objectivity than do I.
So far as i'm concerned, every court in DC is tainted with lies, corruption and stupidity. They let Eric Holder go, they let Sussmann go, they convicted Bannon.
They are Nazis trying Jews. They let other Nazis go, and they convict Jews for anything.
The DC courts need to be dissolved and all their cases sent to other districts outside of that corrupt cesspool.
All I can say is “Good”
I hope every single person who did anything violent or destructive received a conviction
We are better then this
I don’t care if a bunch of animals got away with it before, screw them.
BTW all the “men” who torched the two police cars in Trenton, NJ during the summer of love, all received convictions as well.
FBI stopped by your place yet sam???
If he wanted to assault cops he needed to go to Portland where it was completely supported by the democrats.
Amy Berman Jackson is Biden’s Roland Freisler.
She deserves the same end.
Not yet but my family always jokes to me about it.
Preach
Albuquerque Head? I thought she was hanging out on East Central in hot pants.
I agree.
The cops—especially this cop— were probably belligerent and violent. They were elsewhere that day. I wouldn’t be surprised if Fanone didn’t have it coming.
It seems curious: why haven’t the lawyers leveled counter-charges at the cops? Why hasn’t anyone accused the cops of brutality? How did these cops, after years of defamation ,painting them as racist brutes, suddenly become heroic media darlings?
Even if the cop was an angel and innocent, isn’t it standard practice in court to counter your accuser’s claims—”No your honour! He clubbed me first...”? Every con plays thay card; why not our guys? Why haven’t these lawyers tried to crack the presumption that the cops were innocent?
Oh wait—I think I know....
