WASHINGTON — A Jan. 6 rioter who dragged former D.C. Police Officer Michael Fanone into the crowd on the steps of the U.S. Capitol was sentenced to 7.5 years in federal prison on Thursday.
Albuquerque Head, a 43-year-old from Tennessee, was sentenced to 90 months in federal prison, a bit shy of the 96 months that prosecutors had requested, but still one of the longest sentences to date in the Capitol riot cases. Head will get credit for the roughly 18 months he's spent locked up already.
Fanone urged Judge Amy Berman Jackson to sentence Head to the maximum, saying that Head had cut his career in law enforcement short. Fanone suffered a heart attack and traumatic brain injury in the Jan. 6 assault, and ended up resigning from the Metropolitan Police Department.
“Show him the same mercy that he showed me on Jan. 6 … which is none," Fanone said.
Head dragged Fanone into the mob on Jan. 6 while yelling “I got one!” Before that, he used a police shield to push against a line of police officers in the western-facing tunnel of the U.S. Capitol, where some of the most violent acts of the insurrection took place. He pleaded guilty to a felony charge of assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers.
Judge Amy Berman Jackson called Head’s actions "some of the darkest acts committed on one of our nation’s darkest days." She pointed out all the opportunities Head had to remove himself from the battle being fought against police, but instead re-armed with a police shield and went back to the front line.
Jackson described former Officer Fanone as Head’s “prey” and his “trophy.” She also described Fanone as “protecting America” during the riot.

Disproportionate.
Who can call this justice?
Cruel and unusual.
People committing murder don’t get sentenced as long .... especially if they’re illegal.
This attention seeking theatrical drama queen officer is full of squat.
Albuquerque Head ? Unusual name .
Consider what the punishment for anyone would be if they dragged a cop into a mob in a riot.
Just because you agreed with the rioters doesn’t make that a “not so bad” crime.
Yeah, I understand how this doesn’t square with the BLM riots. But, it doesn’t lessen the crime.
You play silly games…,
All a result of Nancy Pelosi deliberately turning down the offer to have national guardsmen there.
To be sure there are some who deserve to be thrown in jail and this guy sounds like one of them. Yeah I know a lot got unjust sentences but that shouldn’t leave this fool off the hook
Good
No one asked anyone to be violent
We weren't there for any kind of violence and it's too bad that a few hotheads lost control of themselves and started shoving people around. You tend to get that in large crowds. I've seen worse at a Van Halen concert. And let me tell you, your average Van Halen concert had way more security than this event had.
That's why Trump asked for more security. He was denied because the other side WANTED to incite violence. The whole thing was nothing but a setup so that attention could be drawn away from the steal. Unfortunately, the ploy worked.
They deserve the same sentences as those arrested during the Geo Floyd riots.
Judge Amy Berman Jackson
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ah yes, the radical leftist judge Amy Berman Jackson. She sure gets around.
How much time will Ray Epps, the instigator, get?
I am sure it was described and probably included video.
It doesn’t sound like he was a “peaceful” protestor.
Agree - there is a HUGE difference between being in the capital and snapping some phots to assault and battery on a LEO.
One of the Antifa plants???
GOOD!!!!!
Good riddance. Deserved every bit of it.
