Before anyone gets too excited, the Supreme Courts of NYS are their trial courts. The Court of Appeals is their highest court.

Yes, the Court of Appeals is higher than the Supreme Court. Kinda like a true NY-style pizza is bigger than a Supreme pizza, I guess.
