Why Am I Seeing That Political Ad? Check Your ‘Trump Resistance’ Score.

In the lead-up to the 2020 presidential election, a voter analytics firm called PredictWise came up with a novel approach to help Democratic campaigns target persuadable Republicans: “Covid concern” scores.

To create the scores, the company first analyzed an immense data set showing the cellphone locations of tens of millions of Americans during the initial lockdown months of the pandemic. Then it ranked people based on their travel patterns.

Republicans whose phone locations showed that they left home a lot received high “Covid-19 decree violation” scores, while those who mainly stayed home received low scores, according to a PredictWise report. In follow-up surveys of some voters, researchers found that stay-at-home Republicans were almost as concerned about the pandemic as Democrats.

The firm said it had used the data to help Democrats in several swing states target more than 350,000 “Covid-concerned” Republicans with Covid-related campaign ads. In Arizona, PredictWise reported, the scores helped Democrats “open up just over 40,000 persuasion targets” for Mark Kelly, who was running for Senate. (Senator Kelly’s office did not respond to emails and calls requesting comment.)

The Deep State doesn’t need Orwell’s telescreens everywhere. We carry them in our pockets.

That or the deep state is ordering the one NGO to give it to the other NGO...

It is unbelievably creepy that some firm could track every single person's movements by their cell phone. Police probably can solve a lot of crimes this way but this firm's leaders need to be arrested.

I just watched a crime show where British police were able to prove a murderer's guilt by tracking his movements on his fitbit. Glad they caught him, but at the cost of everyone's privacy?

Although the rest of the story is behind a paywall, this bit sure is informative. Gotta leave that damn cell home or get some kind of burner to carry for family to contact ICOE.

I think I know which kind of ads you mean. I never respond to such ads, which I see as just another method to fatten the “potential donor” lists for various causes.
Even when I think the ad is fully sponsored by the GOP and not (the enemy) the Democrat Party, I refuse to provide any data for them. If/when I wish to donate, I will contact them for that particular donation. “Don’t call me, I’ll call you”

I’ve heard of cases where someone decides to donate a certain sum to a political campaign of either party once, and somehow, your account will continue to be debited in the future, perhaps once a month, even though you did not plan or authorize this ongoing contribution arrangement.

Did you think they didn't?

It also listens to what you say.

People bug themselves and happily carry their trackers every where they go.

Canadian FedGov did that here during the "pandemic", and is now getting a lot of criticism for it

Why Am I Seeing That Political Ad? Check Your ‘Trump Resistance’ Score.

Why am I being spammed by EVERY GOP candidate across the Country asking [DEMANDING] money?

The GOP had better wise up and understand that, despite my support, I won't give in the future if this is the result!

I suggest we all have a “no phone day” turn off our phones for 12 hours...could be interesting

Burners are of no use. If a signal hits a tower(and it must) then you are tracked no matter what type of phone you use. You would almost have to use a phone once and toss it otherwise the location data log with any other coorabrating data such as credit card use and it’s over, you are known and tracked.

What about this: Can you shield your phone to block the signal until you want to use it? (asking for a friend)

“Hmmm, time to buy a Faraday bag for electronics”

Sorry, no good. If you leave you house you are tracked. Here is a small story from Bay County Florida a few months ago and I promise this tech is I use all over.

https://www.mypanhandle.com/news/local-news/bay-county/bay-county-sheriffs-office/bay-county-secures-new-crime-solving-technology/

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – All six Bay County law enforcement agencies have come together to secure a state-of-the-art technology system for fighting crimes.

It’s called the ‘Bay Real-Time Operation Center’ or ‘BAYROC.’

It uses real-time technology, like traffic cameras, to give information to law enforcement to help solve crimes.

Bay County Sheriff Tommy Ford said a good example of how the system is used is if a crime happens on the beach, they can use BAYROC to follow the person’s car through other areas of the county, track that car and communicate the information to the law enforcement agency in charge.

“It uses an integrated system combining school cameras, traffic cameras, business cameras, and license plate readers, as well as other resources and databases that are available to law enforcement,” Ford said.

It’s a “big data “ fusion of cell carriers and “free” app data. Google maps, Gmail, Facebook are all “free”, because you’re the product.

It’s not a fault, it’s a feature. The central feature, and the reason these things exist at all.
