Wonder how long the Fort JACKSON name will remain?
Good evening, lightman...too true.
Thanks, unique, for the road trippers!

Thanks for posting of Fort Jackson! Our son will enjoy this.
I was drafted, November 22, 1965, in Philadelphia. We boarded a bus for the trip south. The destination was Ft. Jackson, SC. I had Thanksgiving dinner at Ft. Jackson, not to fond of that memory. The next week boarded another bus to Ft. Gordon, GA for Basic Training.
Good evening, upchuck...your neck of the woods.
Welcome to the Canteen, broken_clock. Is your son in the Army at Fort Jackson?
Greetings to all at the Canteen!
To all our military men and women, past and present,
Howdy, Kathy.
I imagine going in to the office this morning wasn’t very fun. C-C-C-C-O-O-O-O-O-OLD!! Ice is starting to form on Lake Hood and it wasn’t there yesterday. I hear it’s going to be even colder later this week.
Any luck getting YOUR laptop back so you can work from home again?
Great road trip. Thanks to you two for making it happen!
He was at Fort Jackson and Fort Gordon then Fort Lee, VA. for training. He really likes Fort Campbell, KY, and all the South.
Hey there, radu!
Hope you got some rain so the dust and other nasty stuff settles down. Did you have fun at the tent today?
it’s way cooler tonight after a very windy afternoon. Luckily, the sand didn’t blow this time. I’m shocked. Also, we voted today. My stress level is 20 points lower. LOL!
No, the rain hasn't gotten here yet. It won't be here until tomorrow. Just very windy today and will be windier tomorrow as the front gets closer.
Glad your wind didn't kick up the sand to make everyone miserable.
I woke up to a rumbling sound and figured it was a helicopter flying over. But then I heard it again. And again. Ok, not a helicopter. Not the combine across the road, though I knew it was out there. This was too close to be that.
I got up to peek through the window and grabbed the camera. THIS was in the front field .....
POO TRUCK!!!!!!!!
And across the road, as I knew it was, was .....
The window I took the shots through faces south and that's the direction the wind's blowing from. All that "ick" was blowing right over the house. GACK!
One nice thing was seeing that combine. It doesn't belong to the guy who owns the field. His is a lot smaller. That one today is Dusty's so the guy has obviously enlisted his help. Thank goodness!! They knocked out a lot of the field while I was gone today; much more than the guy could have done with his little combine. We'd have had another week of that field being harvested with his combine. Now we just have another day, maybe two. There'll be a short break while the beans dry out from tomorrow's rain though.
Thank you, Dusty, for spreading the poo today. Tomorrow's rain will kill the stink. He's been known to spread it when we had no rain in the forecast for a week or more.
I almost didn't go to the tent today. I didn't want to step outside long enough to hop in the car to leave. It was SO rank outside.
How's everyone doing this morning?
Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))
Looks like it’s been a bit soggy there overnight. I know y’all can use the rain but I hope Gizmo hasn’t had to hide from any storms.
Did you have a good romp at the lake yesterday?
Oh, my goodness. I find it hard to breathe after just LOOKING at all that poo dust and combine dust. No wonder you can’t. I hope the rain doesn’t miss you tomorrow.
Last night we had HUGE rain clouds northwest of us, and of course, you know the rest of the story. We got nothing! I was so mad when I woke up to a dry patio. LOL! We both could use the rain. I just looked at the forecasts and we’re cooler than you right now. It’s 46 here. I was surprised it was that low.
