Republicans may win control of Congress in November, but that control won’t take effect until the new Congress assembles on Jan. 3, 2023. In the intervening two months, Democrats will try to squeeze every last bit of legislation they can from their majority.

“We still have much to do and many important bills to consider,” Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said in remarks on the Senate floor at the end of September. “Members should be prepared for extremely, underline extremely, busy agenda in the last two months of this Congress.”
Just how much trouble can the Democrats cause? Fortunately, there are very few issues on which all 50 Democratic Senators agree upon. But two major agenda items that must be addressed are the spending bill to avoid a slow-motion government shutdown beginning Dec. 16 and the passage of a huge defense bill.
Government funding is the most pressing priority that lawmakers will confront during the lame duck. The current deadline for the expiration of funding is December 16 after the House and Senate passed an extension to avert a shutdown at the end of September.
Since the funding bill is viewed as must-pass legislation it will likely become a magnet for other priorities that lawmakers may try to tack on to ride along with it. It’s possible that further aid for Ukraine could come up as Ukraine continues to counter Russia’s invasion of the country. While that funding has bipartisan support, some conservatives are balking at the pricey contributions to Ukraine and may scrutinize more closely additional requests from the administration, a dynamic that is dividing Republicans on this key issue.
Democrats also want more funding for pandemic response, but Republicans have pushed back on that request.

Yet another reason the Congress should remove all losers as soon as the election is certified.
Lame duck sessions are a fraud on the electorate.
Limiting the ability of career pols to cause damage immediately after an election in which they lost power needs to be done. An Article V Convention of the States will be needed to do it, since the Swamp will never reform itself.
HR1 of the new congress should be election integrity.
This is Manchin’s chance to get revenge for the Dems screwing him over on the Massive climate bill.
The new Congress can just spend a few days rescinding everything passed in the last 2 years. Then do away with the horror of omnibus bills and get down to repairing the damage down. Maybe clean out some administrators.
As soon as they lose their election they should be marched out in handcuffs. Liz Cheney has been a lame duck for months & look at the damage she’s still causing.
They will attach all their schemes to the budget and then blame republicans for not passing a budget.
If it is signed into law, it will take the signature of Biden to undo it. Biden will be told not to do it.
Why would you march them out in handcuffs??? We are not yet a banana republic and the talk of handcuffs, and all the other crazy rhetoric doesn’t do anybody any good.
Yeah we all know about the lame duck stuff but that’s how Congress works. You want to change it then either get elected or make sure whomever you elect remembers who they work for...We the People.

I told ya they would. They can spend trillions and pass some fat-handed legislation wiping out swaths of constitutional protections.

Both houses have to override with 2/3 vote. Extremely unlikely.
If the new Congress passes a bill of recension and Biden vetoes it only requires the Senate to override.
