Biden depleting weapons supply with Ukraine aid, hurting potential defense of Taiwan: experts

The Biden administration is giving so much military assistance to Ukraine to combat Russian forces that it's risking not having enough weapons to help defend Taiwan should China invade, according to experts and former top national security officials.

"Our weapons stockpiles are low, in large part because of the war in Ukraine, which means if there's another war, or if we need to provide weapons to Taiwan, those weapons aren't going to be there because these weapons are complicated to make — they're expensive," former National Security Council Chief of Staff Fred Fleitz told the John Solomon Reports podcast on Friday.

"My guess is the Biden administration has put no priority whatsoever into weapons production, and there's going to be a severe shortfall," added Fleitz, a former CIA analyst. "It's a dangerous situation."

Former Trump administration National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien issued a similar warning on Fox News this week.

"We need to replenish the stocks of everything that we've sent to Ukraine," he said. "We're low on missiles. We're low on Javelins. We're low on Stingers. We can't supply them to Taiwan now."

Then you’re misguided because Taiwan is not only an independent democratic nation, it is absolutely essential to the Pacific strategic situation, for us, Japan, Australia and all our allies.

So it is not an “internal situation” and we should fight for it.

And our pronouncements about “one China”. Please.

You talk nonsense without end.A country fighting Russian invasion and we’re just giving military aid, is not a “welfare case”. Looking at it that way is just a childish tantrum.

Exactly. And the fact we don’t have South Vietnam to anchor our fleet and a position on the ground against China, is a disaster.

Dig deeper, son. Most of our aid is going into paying the Ukie government salaries, to keep it running. They even voted a huge pay increase for themselves. Their economy and manufacturing and currency has collapsed, thanks to US taxpayers, the welfare nation has not totally collapsed. Ukraine is not only a corrupted black hole, but the largest welfare nation on the planet.

Much written about this. Just one source…there are many.

You really need to take Trump’s advice, and put the western media whiskey bottle down.

Sorry I was mistaken, as of September, the welfare government of Ukraine is receiving $12.3 billion more….

Cranks up from 60 to 100 a year? Russia makes 100+ such systems a month.

What destruction of Russian military? In your dreams maybe. One important note: Russia didn’t threaten any of the American interests as far as a year ago. Now it is going to support the opposite side everywhere the US is going to get involved.

Lol. This story is wrong on so many levels. Just one: the 6th fleet is near China. It has more firepower than every weapon used in WWI, WWII, Vietnam, and Korea. More than pretty much every other nations’ military combined. And the Admirals are just handling the situation. They’re ignoring Biden to a large degree.

Considering that it can't even take a neighbor one quarter its size, has an economy somewhere below Italy's, and is using Korean War era tanks because it can't effectively produce modern ones, I'm not too concerned.

If the Soviet Union couldn't succeed, I doubt the rump state that is Russia can.

What is the definition of success? To lose a war to a country of Afghanistan without s military?:) USSR did a better job supporting North Vietnam than the US is even theoretically capable vis-a-vis Ukraine. It Russia followed suit regarding Iraw and Afghanistan, the US could easily suffer casualties in a hundred thousands. Instead, Russia supported the US effort, and even warned the US on 9/11 and Boston bombers, to no effect due to incompetence and corruption of the US security agencies. History proves over and over again that helping the US is counter productive.

We're out of Iraq and Afghanistan anyway. And that's because like most of the developed world, we've moved beyond killing other people just to take their land.

Except for Russia, of course, which apparently didn't learn the same lesson as did the rest of Europe from the horrors of the world wars.

This moralizing mumbo-jumbo is not impressing anyone outside of the “developed world”. Ukraine is not about land as well and you know it.
