Biden depleting weapons supply with Ukraine aid, hurting potential defense of Taiwan: experts
Just The News ^ | October 23rd, 2022 | By Aaron Kliegman

The Biden administration is giving so much military assistance to Ukraine to combat Russian forces that it's risking not having enough weapons to help defend Taiwan should China invade, according to experts and former top national security officials.

"Our weapons stockpiles are low, in large part because of the war in Ukraine, which means if there's another war, or if we need to provide weapons to Taiwan, those weapons aren't going to be there because these weapons are complicated to make — they're expensive," former National Security Council Chief of Staff Fred Fleitz told the John Solomon Reports podcast on Friday.

"My guess is the Biden administration has put no priority whatsoever into weapons production, and there's going to be a severe shortfall," added Fleitz, a former CIA analyst. "It's a dangerous situation."

Former Trump administration National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien issued a similar warning on Fox News this week.

"We need to replenish the stocks of everything that we've sent to Ukraine," he said. "We're low on missiles. We're low on Javelins. We're low on Stingers. We can't supply them to Taiwan now."

The US has substantial strategic interests in Taiwan.

The US has no interests whatsoever in Ukraine.

Those who advocate support for Ukraine, that weakens our position in the Pacific, are ultimately working against US interests.

Another important fact about the national security situation.

Gone are the days when the US could trun out a B-24 every 24 hours, How ridiculous was American production in World War 2? [images at link]

This is Willow Run. It was a B-24 plant built by Ford to mass produce the bomber. It ran its line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and produced a complete B-24 every 63 minutes on average. At peak, it produced 100 bombers in just two days.

America had 18 dry docks building Liberty Ships during WW2. Whereas typically riveted ships of the day took months to build, the Liberty Ships went from nothing to ready to launch in an average of 42 days in those dry docks. They were welded instead of riveted, and only built for a 5-year life span. Forty-two days doesn’t seem very fast? Well I did say that was an average. The first Liberty ship took 230 days to complete. The fastest built ship took less than five days. That is a 14,000 ton ship from laying the keel to launch in less than five days. We built 2,710 of these ships during the war.

Between the nine plants, 49,234 Sherman tanks were built during the war, accounting for about half of the tanks the US produced during the war. Yeah, half again. -Quora ^ | 2019 | Chris Morehouse

Thank God for those who served, and for those who enabled such production for the purpose of fighting evil empires. Yet now the Navy knows how to marry men with men, and thinks it is wise to have men and women work (etc.) together on subs, and all overall the military is committed to helping the enemies within, saluting the Leftist politically correct flag. On her present course of war against God, the day will come when it is said, "How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!" (2 Samuel 1:27)

How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished! (2 Samuel 1:27)

This concern I agree with. We should have cut our ruinous social spending and built a stronger military starting decades ago.

A real war is coming but that doesn’t mean it helps to lose Europe.

Europe and Asia must both step up as allies.

Except the same people here who say we have no interests in Ukraine, also say we should not fight over Taiwan.

The “We’re all going to die chorus” is defeatist.

The moment China feels threatened by the US using Taiwan as a launching pad for weapons aimed at them it will suffer the exact same fate as Ukraine.

"My guess is the Biden administration has put no priority whatsoever into weapons production, and there's going to be a severe shortfall,"

Does he read the news:U.S. industry cranks up HIMARS production as Ukraine war intensifies

In anticipation of the requests, the company invested $65 million about six months ago to shorten the manufacturing time for HIMARS before receiving a contract from the Pentagon, Taiclet said.

Lockheed Martin is also considering expanding its facility in Camden, Ark., as demand continues to grow, he added.

Correct. I prefer the term strategic dependency to strategic interest. Before Trump we had a strategic dependency on Middle East oil. Now we are back to the same dependency under Biden. Our dependency on Taiwan is primarily semiconductors, chips, and computer components. That’s really pathetic because America invented those things, we just don’t like making those things.

There’s a way to strength and peace. The world needs to be dependent on American technology, manufacturing, energy and agriculture; not our weapons. That’s not isolationism, quite the opposite. We would just be flipping the tables in global transactions. While we are at it, we should keep our weapons. There is zero need for any other nation to have our weapon technology.

It’s all business deals for the Bidens. Ukraine and China have given the Bidens millions. Taiwan should have “contributed “.

I’m sure Biden will have more than enough weapons available to use against conservatives if his twisted mind decides on it.

We are being led to defeat deliberately make a deal to stay in control with our enemy victors and rule with their military’s help. Crazy? I don’t think so. The GOP needs to be overhauled day one, oust McConnell and his criminals and drive through an agenda that will get us on our feet quickly while setting up a commission to indict prosecute and jail or worse those responsible for this treason

This is a ridiculous theory.

The stuff being used in Europe has come out of the inventory designated for Europe. It was made to be used on the Russians.

If the Taiwanese are in need of HIMARS and Javelins, their war would be over.

You use different tools for different jobs.

I wish “journalists” would take five minutes to understand how the world works.

I say the US has essential interests in Taiwan, and no interests whatsoever in Ukraine.

Therefore, I would support war with China in the Pacific. And would leave Ukraine to be reabsorbed by Russia.

I still have not heard a plausible argument about US interests in Ukraine. Only platitudes about dominoes.
