Political debates between opposing candidates ramped up this past week, and if you were hoping for substantive policy contrasts, you must not have watched a debate in the past few decades.
TV long ago turned debates into sound-bite-heavy posturing sessions, and so if you want to know what a candidate might do in office or get an accurate read on what they’ve done in the past, you’re better off reading about it. […]
So, in light of that, what have we learned from the past week?
Republicans are laser-focused on the economy, inflation, crime and blaming President Biden and Democrats for all of that. […]
A New York Times/Siena College poll released Monday showed that the economy and inflation were far and away the top topic on most voters’ minds. A total of 26% of likely voters listed the economy as the “most important problem facing the country today.” Another 18% listed inflation and the cost of living.
The next closest issues were abortion, at 5%, and crime at 3%. […]
… Republicans smell an opportunity in the Democratic party’s apparent embrace of abortion without any limits. A poll by a Republican firm earlier this month of 1,000 voters found that 57% view “allowing abortions up until 9 months of pregnancy for any reason” as “more extreme” than “restricting abortions to only in cases of rape, incest, and when the life of the mother is in danger.” Only 29% said the latter is the more extreme of the two positions. …

women care about their pocket books...we are the spenders. abortion...i think most women don’t see why they should vote for abortion aka vote democrat...it doesn’t effect them...it’s the money factor...and biden has made a big mess of everything monetary.
You have walked up to the edge of the abyss. We slept like normal.
For abortion, they should show the opening scenes of 300 where the piles of infant skulls are and the biohazard baby disposal of Unplanned.
Remember when Rush Limbaugh used to say, establishment Republicans were always asking him, “what are we going to do with Christians” and their stance on Abortion, it’s killing us with women voters.
Since Roe v Wade was overturned, Armageddon has not happened, in most states abortion isn’t even an issue, it goes to show you that establishment Republicans have no clue what every day Americans care about or if they do know, they don’t care.
The people in these polls who list abortion as their big concern are people who were always going to vote Democrat anyway. ie the Democrats are reaching/persuading absolutely no one going on and on about abortion.
Its a state issue anyway and most of the voters realize that by now.
To think how many years the RINOs held abortion over our heads, like it was some sort of anchor.
Many voters are quite responsible. Responsible voters are aware of the issues, and vote based on their preferences.
Responsible women can do something about pregnancy. It’s called “birth control”. Responsible women can also do something about current inflation and crime. It’s called “vote for Republicans”.
Politicians hate large emotional divisive big-ticket issues. They duck them because no matter which side they take, 50% of the voters will hate them to their next election.
Good strategy, but don’t forget the sexual mutilation of children.
Since most Democrats support abortion up until an innocent baby exits the birth canal will they also support killing elderly persons? We know Biden Democrats support Doctors who cut off boys penis’ and girls breasts and give children puberty blockers. Will they also follow the examples of butchers in the 40’? Are their any limits on their sadism?
Yes, they support “assisted suicide” by the state.
Most women don’t know someone who was denied an abortion. I don’t support abortion, but that’s not my point. There might be someone out there someplace that was denied an abortion, but the numbers are so low as to make it a non-issue in terms of reality.
That’s why pocketbook is a far more important concern. Biden gas prices hurt them personally every day.
