Biden Appears To Suggest Gisele Fetterman Will Take Her Husband’s Senate Seat (that's the plan!)

President Joe Biden said that Gisele Fetterman would be “a great lady in the Senate” during a Thursday campaign appearance, as questions about Democratic Pennsylvania Senate nominee John Fetterman continue to swirl.

Biden appeared in Pittsburgh to promote his infrastructure proposals, including the Inflation Reduction Act and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. During a press conference, Biden name-checked several Pennsylvania elected officials, including Fetterman, who suffered a stroke less than a week before he won the state’s Senate primary by more than 30 points.

“John, thank you very much for running, I do appreciate it. And Gisele, you’re gonna make a great lady in the Senate,” Biden said.

Several wives of senators have taken over for their husbands upon death or incapacitation. Most recently, Democrat Jean Carnahan of Missouri replaced her husband on the ballot in 2000 after Mel Carnahan died in a plane crash. If John Fetterman were to win his race against Oz, the Pennsylvania governor could appoint his successor if he were unable to serve.

All they have to do is get both Shapiro and Fetterman just over the line.

Then John Fetterman can resign due to being enfeebled and his radical wife can be appointed in his place.

And the people will have an appointed representative, rather than an elected representative for two years (and then they'll cement her in due to incumbency).

Just like Lisa Murkowski, etc.

I disagree. That junior version of him he is growing on his neck will take his place

Is that how that works???

Looks like Jill is running America, not Joe.

Libs would pitch a screaming monkey poop throwing fit if any Conservative spouses just assumed the Presidency or Congressional seats.

If Gisele gets in via the Trojan Horse of her husband, I predict she will run her office like VP Kamala, bossy entitled and oversure of her expertise.
In other words, a wannabe Evita Peron but with her own agenda.

Of course it’s the plan.

Joe has a habit of revealing the truth — biggest fraud election machine being his most famous Freudian slip.

Brandon can’t help but say the silent part out loud.

The Brandon Junta behind the screen hates that.

She seems insufferable. I wouldn’t vote for the clown to start, but the thought of her in the Senate is terrifying.

No, she did not. There wasn’t time to put her name on the ballot. Mel won the election even though he was dead. The new governor (Carnahan was the governor at the time of his death) appointed Jean to the Senate. She lost her bid to be elected to the seat two years later.

Elected office is not a “joint property” which automatically transfers to a spouse.

Edith Wilson and Eleanor Roosevelt established a terrible precedent.

You are correct. We lived in the Carnahan’s hometown at the time.
The plane crash was a tragedy that took 3 lives. The governor and his son (who was the pilot), and an aide.
Immediately afterward, John Ashcroft suspended his campaign out of deference to the Carnahan family.
I couldn’t believe it when I saw the Dems put up signs, ads and bumper stickers saying “Keep the flame alive”, encouraging the electorate to vote for a dead man.
Of course, the brain dead voters fell for it.
I lost all sympathy for Jean Carnahan when she accepted the appointment to the senate as a consolation prize for losing her husband and son.

Congress and the Prez. have a lame duck period. Does a lameduck PA Governor likewise have a chance to replace one Fetterman with the other ? Or is the swearing in done next day ?

In the unliklihood of a Fetterman win, followed by a near immediate replacement, we’d likely see the senate refuse to seat Mrs. Fetterman on grounds the campaign was a fraud and sham.

I’ve maintained since the stroke that she’s planning on assuming the seat.
