No, “McCarthyism” was the pejorative Marxist name for truth-telling whistleblowers like McCarthy, who fought the Marxist infiltration of our government, education and media institutions.
They claimed that McCarthy’s UnAmerican Activities Committee was destroying innocent people’s lives with lies, and that it was an abuse of power.
In reality, McCarthy was right - his allegations were not lies.
“Reverse McCarthyism” is the opposite - when the Marxists are now the ones holding the Jan 6th type trials - persecuting innocent anti-communists for telling the truth. Except this time, it really is lies - and it really is an abuse of power.
It is the exact opposite - so “Reverse McCarthyism” is appropriate.
McCarthy was corrupt. He abused his power to stay in power.
Communism was the political thought that enabled him to abuse power more.
Today it’s the same thing. FBI has Corruption in their DNA. They are doing the same exact thing today that the media will embrace and back them on (just like when they were attacking socialist/communist thought).

And, yes, McCarthy’s own faults were the basis for damning what he was actually right about. Should have been a HUGE lesson for the GOP, but we’ve seen how well they learned it.
