Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said during the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection that then-President Trump’s statement telling the rioters to leave the Capitol was “BS.”
CNN aired footage that filmmaker Alexandra Pelosi, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) daughter, took on the day of the insurrection on “Anderson Cooper 360” on Thursday.
Schumer and Pelosi were taken to Fort McNair, an Army base on the Potomac River, after the Capitol was evacuated as the insurrection unfolded, where they called multiple officials from the Trump administration to seek help from the National Guard to stop the attack.
Footage showed Schumer speaking by phone to then-acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen, pressing him to tell Trump to call off the rioters and tell them to go home.
Rosen repeatedly avoids directly committing to asking Trump to make a statement, causing Schumer to appear to get frustrated.
“Please answer my question,” Schumer says, followed by silence from Rosen.
“Answer my question,” Schumer says again.
Trump eventually gave a prerecorded statement after hours passed during the riot, in which he maintained that the election was “fraudulent” and that the rioters were “very special” but telling them to go home and that “we have to have peace.”

There was no insurrection on Jan 6. Calling it an insurrection is like saying Planned Parenthood is about parenting.
The only “insurrection” that I have seen evidence of took place in the early morning hours of 4 November, 2020.

Why did Schumer and Pelosi need to seek help from the Trump administration for the National Guard? Is this request just part of the narrative they chose to have on Pelosi’s daughter’s video? Trump had already authorized the National Guard the day before January 6. Pelosi had refused. I doubt that this was mentioned during the hit piece from CNN.
He issued two tweets before that. What else was he supposed to do given the SS would not let him address the crowd directly?

The protesters dispersed after Trump told them to go home. I don’t recall Schumer telling BLM to go home when they burned and looted DC.

He used to be my congressman.
Back then I worked the polls every election. Schumer always won by a landslide. Anywhere from 70-85 percent of the vote. Some election years the republican party didnt even bother to run a candidate against him because they knew it was futile.
Schumer never even bothered to campaign for re-election. No mailers, flyers, no tv campaign commercials, no meet and greet the voters, no debates, no personal appearances, no press conferences or interviews. Nothing. He knew he never needed to. While his fellow congressmen of both parties all across the country were busting their butts, working on their re-election campaigns, he pretty much took the time to relax at home.
The district was solidly democrat, like 20-1. I doubt the voters really knew who he was or what he stood for, how he voted. All they saw was the “D” after his name and that was good enough for them.
Regarding Trump and Jan. 6, when Trump campaign tweeted for his supporters to go home shortly after violence started, tweet had allegedly been removed by anti-Trump Twitter.

Trump has received sharp criticism for the amount of time that passed on the day of the insurrection before he made a statement and for the statement itself, in which he repeated his false claims that the election was a fraud and complimented those at the Capitol.
The election was, in fact, a fraud. It is not a "false claim".

Repeat a lie often enough.... Even Pelosi is quoted in this new recording as saying it was a trespassing event.
