Putin May Be Losing Control of Russian Elites

Sounds like "Russia is out of missiles" and "Vlad is dying from 16 diseases" syndrome to me.

The walls are closing in on the RuZZians...

Sounds like they're about to liberate Bakhmut, too.

Neoconneds everywhere will be saddened.

lol. Have you seen the Panasian summit a few days ago? The map is redrawn, sure, except it is Putin who draws it.

Kind of wouldn’t be a hot war without fighting. Their was still fighting even with the Trojan Horse

Well actually the Trojan horse wasnt really war by other means as Tsu is referring too. But war by other means isnt what people think of as war. Take the influx of mohamnedans into Europe. It is kind of a strategy in islams long term war against Europe, but it isn’t viewed as warfare strategy by most euroweenies, who, like most, think of guns and bombs and stuff

Odd how a super power is doing so poorly in a war.

We're a superpower. Look how we did in Afghanistan.

Winning wars from the Air is partially true. But Air Supremacy is the key to our doctrine. Russia screwed up and didn’t even try to get air supremacy. They thought they’d win easily by the people rising up for Russia. Kind of like how we thought Sadaam would be overthrown or Asaad.

But we at least established air supremacy. Russia doesn’t even have air superiority right now.

But Russia is typically 2 to 1 on the losing side of that ratio.

Russian territorial incursion into the Ukraine peaked at the five week mark.

Russian territorial losses accelerated sharply in September and October. (Over 12,000 sq. Km)

After the Kerch Bridge interdiction, there are lots of indicators of Russia preparing for bigger withdrawals in coming weeks, in the South, including Crimea.

One such indicator was rounding up Russian milbloggers today, including Strelkov, WarGonzo, Rybar and others, to preemptively suppress criticism in Russian language media, for the disaster that is developing.

Quite frankly, I think GDP is a poor standard of determining a country’s economic strength and health. Purchasing Power Parity is a more useful metric, since it accounts for price differences between markets.

Consider the tables on this page here, which takes into account PPP when ranking GDP: whether you go by IMF, World Bank, or CIA figures, Russia ranks 6th: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(PPP)

To say Russia is a third world country economically is not only historically ignorant (because the whole terminology of ‘first world, second world, third world’ is an artifact of the Cold War: First World referred to the West, Second World referred to the Soviet-Sino sphere, whilst the Third World referred to countries which were nominally not aligned with either), but it isn’t even born out by statistical data, or reality on the ground. Would a third world country be able to proverbially hold Europe hostage (as was the case before the Nord Stream sabotage)?

No: it only testifies to the reality of just how much of a player Russia is on the energy markets. For a country of their size, it’s pretty much an inevitability from a practical standpoint.

And at the end of the day, what position would you rather be in, geopolitically speaking: an economy geared towards services (as America now is), or an economy that actually has a large stranglehold on energy sources and raw materials?

Russia screwed up and didn’t even try to get air supremacy.

That's because Russian military doctrine isn't geared towards air supremacy. By and large, their combat focus is on massed artillery, rockets, and missiles; their military is built around artillery, instead of it being a combat support arm.
