InfoWars founder Alex Jones mocked the $965 million verdict against him, calling it a "total joke," a "railroad job," a blatant effort to silence and bankrupt him, and an affront to freedom of speech and opinion, adding to Newsmax that there is a 99% chance he can get it overturned on appeal.
"So, look, nobody's talking about the appeal," Jones, who was sued by Sandy Hook victims' families and an FBI agent, told Thursday's "Eric Bolling The Balance." "We are very, very sure — like 99% — that this is such a joke, this thing is such a fiasco, such a kangaroo court, such a railroad job that these will be overturned, both the Texas rulings and the Connecticut rulings, at the Supreme Court of Connecticut and Texas, if not the Supreme Court of the United States.
"But it doesn't matter at the end of the day. I don't have $10 million cash. I got a couple of houses, a couple million bucks in the bank. It's a total joke. And so if they think they're gonna get 900-plus million dollars, they're gravely mistaken."

You shouldn’t have paid a single cent to those pathetic opportunists.
The entire matter is absurd.
Notice how the establishment goes after the crackpot first. Jones *is* a loon and probably a charlatan, and we all know it; his ravings were banned here until recently.
But, the elites will go after *all* “purveyors of misinformation” if no one stands up for the whackjob Jones. They’ll find people who lost family members in fires, floods, etc. and sue anyone who “denies” the climate scam. Leftists are already jeering how they’ll bankrupt Trump for “spreading conspiracy theories.”
Isn’t there something somewhere in the law about excessive or extreme judgments not being legal? ...and thus, being very applealable?
The Rats are the Kings of conspiracy theories.
I used to think that as well. Then I started seeing all the stuff he was right about, years before anyone else was talking about it. He may have been off on this one, but there has been a LOT he was right about.
I have no sympathy for Mr. Jones. He made absurd claims that implied grieving parents were lying. Then he’s shocked that they sued him.
They won’t get $965M that doesn’t exist, but he does need to pay. You don’t get to make unsubstantiated claims like he did without consequence.
It’s a joke until he can’t find his pickup truck.
Absolutely! What a lot of people don't comprehend is that this is a civil matter brought on by private citizens, not the Federal Government. Some people mistakenly think this is a First Amendment issue when it clearly is not. This case was about slander because the idiot Jones claimed that there was no shooting and that the whole scene was staged.
The problem is that he lays out ten ‘truths’ today, of which only one is apparent today. Five years pass, and maybe three are now proven correct. Maybe at the decade point....another one or two are proven correct. So he’s still wrong, but only 30-percent of the time.
I would bet heavily that this gets overturned. To put things in context, this damage award is more than TEN TIMES higher than any damage award for speech anywhere ever in the history of the world.
This was obviously a politically motivated Leftist kangaroo court that is trying to punish and shut down a political opponent.
“Some people mistakenly think this is a First Amendment issue...”
It absolutely shoud be a iat Amendment issue, but the judge disallowed any presentation of this in the trial.
There is very little doubt that the verdict will be overturned on apeal.
Having never watched him, my impression is that Jones often goes over the top for entertainment purposes BUT....there is often some truth behind what he says.
Anybody who does not see that the Left is once again using Alex Jones as a test case just like Big Tech did, to weaponize the courts in order to try to silence their political opponents is either extremely shortsighted or is a Leftist troll.
I wonder what the payout is for ChiCongo kids killed in the daily gun-play?
How can that be if it doesn't involve the Federal government? This was a civil, not criminal, action brought on by private citizens.
Yup.
In the case in Texas the plaintiff’s lawyer asked him about his “conspiracy theory” about elites and politicians running pedophile rings. Jones responded “you mean like Bill Clinton and Jeffrey Epstein?” OOOOOF!!!
Even his oft repeated rant about “they’re turning the frickin’ frogs gay!” turns out to have some validity. It turns out hormones and other chemicals have leaked into the water and have affected the sex count of frogs which are particularly sensitive to those chemicals/hormones. This has also cut human male sperm count in half in the last 40 years.
Jones was also right about the WEF years before they really came to everybody’s attention and was right about the Deep State and their corruption. I take what he says a lot more seriously than I did before because he’s been proven right too often to completely dismiss like I used to.
It isn't the 'elites' who are suing Jones, it's the everyday working stiff parents he defamed.
Did Nick Sandmann get a billion from all the libs who slandered him and literally caused him harm (lifetime earning potential) with their lies? How are the Rittenhouse lawsuits coming along??
This jury decision is a slap in the face to the first amendment because Jones was talking about the GOVERNMENT creating a false flag. Protected speech.
“If Alex Jones can be sued millions of dollars for being mistaken about Sandy Hook, shouldn’t the same rules apply for MSM about the vaxx being safe and effective?”
This judgement is a complete absurdity.
