The felony charges against Emoni Bates, a former top recruit now at Eastern Michigan, are set to be dismissed next week, his lawyer told ESPN. Attorney Steve Haney said in a phone interview on Thursday that Bates is in the process of being reinstated by the university, athletic department and president. He had been suspended the past three weeks pending resolution of the felony charges.
Haney added that felony charges against Bates are set to be dismissed Wednesday in a session before the Washtenaw County (Michigan) Circuit Court.
Haney said he has negotiated a plea deal with the Washtenaw County Prosecutor's office in exchange for the dismissal of all felony charges. Bates is expected to plead to one misdemeanor count of attempted illegal transportation of a weapon. It will be entirely dismissed upon completion of a misdemeanor diversion program.
Eastern Michigan University confirmed Bates' return to campus and school activities in a statement released Thursday afternoon.

So Eastern Michigan University is happy to give a scholarship to a gun-toting thug. He’ll shoot up a party soon enough, and then they can all cry for gun control.

It’s amazing how they all scream for more strict gun control until one of “their own” is subject to prosecution. The left wants more gun control laws when they don’t prosecute criminals under the laws currently in place.
Also, we have a big problem in our nation in that laws are not applied equally. The most egregious example is the January 6th defendants who remain in prison for misdemeanors, while violent, destructive BLM rioters had felony charges dropped immediately.
I doubt the whole episode will affect his grades one way or another, being out of classes for three weeks straight!
It’s the same transition Hitler made in 1933. Prior to his “election” he used his personal Nazi thugs to intimidate and brutalize his opposition. That was the exact method used by our illegitimate regime to prevail in their “election”. Once Hitler was in power those SA Brownshirt duties went to state security, the Gestapo. Once our regime took over, why would they use Antifa and BLM? They now have the house thugs and goons of the FIB, DOJ, FISA and NSC to bust their opponents heads and lives.
Laws are different for liberals and conservatives. Liberals make laws so that they can apply them or excuse them depending upon who the offender is. Conservatives make laws to deter criminal behavior. Of course the amount of money that one has can influence how laws are applied and enforced in the end regardless of whether one is liberal or conservative.

That’s my little secret thought. Maybe, just maybe, the loose cannons in blm and antifa might become viewed as a threat (that was Hitler’s motivation) and the regime “long knives” those former lackey felons.
Carrying a concealed weapon in some manner that was illegal. That law would be BS in my opinion but the law is usually enforced. The altering the serial number on a handgun is the biggie. That is a federal offense and I have no idea why the BATF wasn’t making the decision on prosecuting the guy. If I’m caught with a handgun that has an altered serial number I’m going to do federal time. It’s just all rather curious to me.

I find it consistent with the protection of sports goons these days. They suspended him, as I understand it, for being arrested and charged with a felony crime. Just because he made a plea deal giving up anything or in this case completes a misdemeanor diversion program in place of a felony doesn’t change the fact that he may still be guilty of the felony. If he wasn’t possibly guilty, why would they arrest him, call it a felony, and charge him? Get out of jail free card.
