CHICAGO - A Chicago woman was charged Wednesday with murdering her landlord, apparently using "large butcher knives" to dismember her body before putting the body parts in a freezer, police said Wednesday night.
Around 2:30 a.m. on Monday, tenants in a home in the 5900 block of North Washtenaw Avenue heard screaming. Police say they tried texting and calling their landlord — identified as 69-year-old Francis Walker — to make sure everything was OK. They got a text response back, but it was later discovered that the response was sent by the murder suspect — 36-year-old Sandra Kolalou.
Later in the day around 6 or 7 p.m., after not being able to contact Walker all day, the tenants called police to report a missing person.
When officers arrived at the scene, Kolalou was leaving the home and heading to a tow truck that she had called and paid for using Walker's credit card, police said they later learned.

Doesn't the government call "screening" discrimination?
One of my boys who has a couple of properties, commented on this by saying, "I'll bet her (the killer tenant's) credit report wasn't very good."

Especially in ultra BLUE states (I’m in one of them) the gov’t is taking away screening tools.
Eviction records are sealed, you can’t “discriminate” against source of income, you can only collect one month’s security deposit; you can’t discriminate against domestic violence victims. You can only charge a certain amount of late fees/applications fees. You can only raise the rent so much, etc. etc.
They will soon make using credit score to screen a crime.
LLs will just have to be more clever. I know I am. So far my rate of applicants PRE qualified to fill out my application is 8% qualified out of the general population.

I live in tenant friendly MA, and would never consider being a landlord. Too old for the hassle.
I read a REIT promoter’s line, who was talking up REITs over properties... he said the LL’s problem was the three “t’s”. Tenants, toilets, trash.
In the worst states, the government is part of the tenant category... the thuggish big brother saying “it’s the tenant’s home, not yours.”
Definitely. And this newest iteration of blax .. (post O’bama era) .. do not rent, hire or otherwise yoke yourself to any of them. These are not your parent’s blak folk.

Here in Oklahoma we don't run credit reports. We run criminal background checks.
If anybody can pass a credit report here, they can buy a house. That leaves criminals and crimigrants. Avoid the latter, also.
