Internal divisions are deepening within the EU as countries attempt to lower the price of natural gas while also ensuring they secure enough of it.
Germany’s decision to announce a 200-billion-euro aid package to ease its domestic crisis while opposing a price cap has angered some members.
EU leaders are meeting again towards the end of the month, and they will aim to find a gas price policy that can please all its members and, most importantly, the sellers….
… As heating season begins, EU member states are turning on each other in their increasingly desperate attempts to secure enough gas to last until spring and to ensure that it is affordable. Some believe this could indeed lead to radical measures that would lower prices. Others are not so sure….
… Under pressure, the EU is turning on the ones that do supply it with gas. Euractiv reported this month that complaints about Norway’s revenues from its higher gas exports to the bloc are growing louder. In Germany, Economy Minister Habeck and an MP separately accused the U.S. of charging too much for its LNG. Tensions are running high.
EU leaders are meeting again towards the end of the month. By then, hopes are that they will have tailored a decision on gas prices that would provide some relief to struggling economies facing a recession. …

Wow, as temperatures drop some tempers are getting short and demands are being made. The NG consumers in the EU want the NG suppliers (primarily Norway) to supply them with gas at substantial discount. And, IMHO, Norway will continue to say they sell at the market price.
Maybe they can get the US to surreptitiously BOMB NORWAY’S PIPELINES. That will show those darn Norwegians.
Well, there's always "Supply and Demand" for those who want to live in the real world. And the key concept here would be: work to increase the supply.
They skipped economics...
Natural gas is, by any form of suitable mental capacity, one of Gods’ absolute blessings in terms of the heat energy it produces and as the basis for almost all of the chemical industry and everything that flows from chemistry: Fertilizers, plastics, most medicines. Even mining, an industry not directly dependent upon NG as a feed stock, depends upon NG for drying and calcining ores. Glass, you wouldn’t have glass if you could not heat up the raw materials. Ultimately, NG is foundational to civilization. It doesn’t take anything past a 3rd grade education to understand this.
. A thousand years of history has taught them nothing. They still hate and fear one another.
I have not found Oilprice to be a credible source.
Sowing the seeds of their own destruction and they can’t figure out how to halt it.
Like a dam with many tiny holes, hoping that if they sling enough shat at it, they will eventually plug the holes only to eventually discover that water is stronger than shat.
Many more nations than not could become energy independent or close to it, if it were not for green politics. Germany is both rich in coal deposits and poor in sensible people in the Bundestag.
The current oversupply of "green" proves the demand was low at the beginning of the con. Even a hardened Leftist like Noam Chomsky, in Manufacturing Consent, knows this.
Would you be kind enough to post one of your credible sources?
Unmentioned is that Norway, which relies domestically on hydro energy, has had a very dry summer and Fall, so snowpacks in the mountains are below average. They may not have excess natural gas to spare.

Really? But for THIS story (EU ‘users’ trying to get Norway to give them a special price) there’s lots of other sources out there with the same information. DuckDuckGo will lead you to them.
Overall, I have found them not to be credible.
They seem to be rather hyperbolic in strange ways.
It is my opinion.
Credible indeed. Watts' site is a gem. Might I suggest both are informative in a world awash with those "misinformation" spouting opinions which are themselves misinformation seeking to become state power.
We would disagree only in that the kernel from both Watts' site and OiPrice are telling of coming schisms in the pretend monolith of the Leftist Green policies, which have always -- at their core -- been about something more often ignored. Anti-capitalism.
When one clusters all the anti-capitalists together, WWII Germany and Italy stand side by side with Soviet and Sino Communism, as well as with the United States' Democratic Socialists of America, and so many in US academia.
Dumbass neocons like to tout the fact EU is at 90% storage capacity.
Which would empty in less than 60 days without additional supplies.
Well said. The Left has sold the fiction that WWII German and Italy were "right wing".
For the Socialists, it neatly divides the word into National Socialists and International Socialist, with no room for anyone advocating for limited government.
"Germany gloated THEIR wind and solar was working so well (be like us), that they closed their NOT weather-dependent, reliable coal plants and ultra-safe nuclear plants, and cut their own and Romania's ancient forests for power plants, because it is CO2 free, which definitely is far from the case. "Germany was able to do that by getting 55 billion cubic meter per year of pipeline gas directly from Russia at $280/1000 cubic meter, under long-term contracts, until the U.S./NATO helpers blew up the pipelines. "Germany becoming an unfriendly country, and buying US LNG at about $1500/1000 cubic meter, caused the 22-year ENEGIEWENDE to be revealed as a gigantic failure, which is about to be repeated teleprompter Biden in the US, unless the posse of White House leftists Dem/Progs gets voted out."
I add that the so-called "conservatives" in Germany ( CDU/CSU ) and Tories in the UK are simply not conservatives as we might think them. Rather they are green-leaning, soft socialists trying to cling on to power.
Germany has a more conservative party, the AfD, which is hated by all those "nice" conservatives. And look at the reception of Le Pen as of Meloni recently. We need many sources, as the mainstream media throughout the West is arrayed against conservative thought and for :progressive" anti-capitalist thought, albeit in camouflage in the moment.
Most of Western Europe has banned fracking. They have abundant potential resources and refused to exploit them just as SLOW JOE BIDEN is doing to us today. The problem is political idiocy, but actual malice, led by progressive leftist Marxists. They made their bed with Putin. Sleep well.
I find it odd that Joe Biden accuses Saudi of helping the Russians by cutting oil production by 2 million barrels a day and thus increasing price. Biden’s policies have reduced our production by about 3 million barrels a day.
The reason the Saudi’s did this is Biden’s policy on Iran. Iran is a mortal threat to Saudi and the Persian Gulf States. His policy is direct support for Iran due to reasons I cannot understand. Actually, it is the policy of Biden’s advisors as they are The President due to his extreme mental deterioration. In effect Saudi said, “GO BRANDON!”
It would be most telling if the Saudi’s said, “we will decrease production at the same rate as USA production declines and increase at the same rate USA production increases until a stable and fair market price.
Climate change policy is purely political...has been for years. It started with the light bulb...and straws...an owl and a 4” fish. It’s very unscientifically and totally unprovable...now and in 100 years to come.
