Thank goodness the more sensible robot makers are promising not to make robot dogs to defend us against the Chinese robot dogs.

You probably should be. Even the Boston Dynamics videos are all hype. Their actual “robot dogs” are not controlled by AI; all their motions need to be hard-coded and the robot is normally connected to a controlling computer by a whole bunch of cables. They just disconnect it for their short PR videos, but you can still see the metal gantry that the cables run along in most of the videos.
