Yep.

RuSSia is always expanding or contracting. It cannot exist in stasis.

“Of course, you can expect a pre emptive attack against NATO forces marshaled in Poland”

And then Moscow will become a memory.

Cronos: [Russia wasn’t running out of standard artillery.]

Bruce Campbell’s Chin: [Although I do think something has happened there. There was a period where even the Ukrainians acknowledged that absolutely massive Russian artillery barrages were forcing them to give ground in the Donbass. But not so much anymore. I think some combination of 1) worn out tubes; 2) lack of reliable ammo; and 3) HIMARs has degraded Russian artillery significantly. ]

My impression is that while Russian artillery fire is much reduced in volume due to attrition as well as bottlenecks in ammo resupply, Ukrainian artillery fire hasn’t quite increased to any great extent. That’s a problem if Ukraine needs to repel advances by massed Russian infantry consisting of freshly-drafted mobiks, with a core of Wagner troops and regulars to stiffen its spine.

I’m afraid sooner or later a missile from Russia or Belarus will go off course and land in Poland. I want Russia to lose but we can do without things being escalated.

The corollary to Thucydides is, of course, “The strong do what they do because they can.”

If we’re invaded by Lower Slobovia, the pro-Slobovia parties will be banned. You can turn to WW2 for examples.

Ha!

“Wrong. EVERY other party besides Zelensky is banned.”

This is absolutely FALSE. Eleven pro Russian parties were banned. Five of them included left, leftist, or Socialist in their name. However other parties exist and their representatives were voted into office in 2019 as shown in the long chart in this link. The last year with results is 2019, the next election is 2024. Most of those results are near the bottom of the chart.

This next link is a discussion with Ukraine media people about the wartime restrictions, their concerns for possible authoritarianism, but belief that will not be the final result.

In the temporarily occupied areas like Lugansk; teachers, civil engineers, hospital staff, and city administrators had to join the party: UNITED RUSSIA. And this was even before the fake referendums.
