Republicans have complete control over legislatures in states that have a total of 307 electoral votes — 37 more than needed to win a presidential election. They hold majorities in several battleground states, meaning that if the Supreme Court endorsed the legal theory, a close presidential election could be overturned if just a few states assigned alternate slates of electors.
Democrats’ chances of bringing Republicans’ total below 270 are narrow: They would need to flip the Michigan Senate or the Arizona Senate, and then one chamber in both Pennsylvania and New Hampshire in 2024, in addition to defending the chambers the party currently controls.
Democrats and Republicans have set their sights on half a dozen states where state legislatures — or at least a single chamber — could flip in November. Democrats hope to wrest back one of the chambers in Michigan and the Arizona Senate, and flip the Minnesota Senate. Republicans aim to win back the Minnesota House of Representatives and take control of one chamber, or both, in the Maine, Colorado and Nevada legislatures. They are also targeting Oregon and Washington.

And the breakdown of Republican vs Democrat legislators overall is 55%/45%.
I expect these numbers to increase after the November results are in - to the Democrats' horror. (especially with more conservative members ousting RINO members in large numbers this year).
Uh oh, Yahoo’s worried. Very concerned, they are.
Legislators overall is an interesting but largely meaningless number. The largest body (the New Hampshire House) has more members (400) than the smallest 12-15 bodies combined.
Breaking down state senators and state house members would produce a more interesting result.

Of the 5,411 House legislative seats, Republicans hold 2,902 vs 2,409 Democrat (there are currently 33 3rd party seats and 67 vacancies)
Of the 1,972 Senate legislative seats, Republicans hold 1,092 vs 863 Democrats (there are currently 7 3rd party seats and 10 vacancies).

Agree. Most of my friends have talked about how PO’d their grown children are... I sense there will be an out pouring of support for Republicans from this group. A lot probably have never voted before.
Democrats, Democrats, Democrats. What cheerleading Yahoos.
You’re good. So the Pubs holds a little bit better than 55% of the Senate seats, and a little worse than 54% of the house seats.
Uh-oh dot com.

Yes, and the vacancies will also be filled in November, increasing the percentages appropriately.
If the majority of these legislatures are as RINO as any of the politicians in DC, who the heck cares?
South Carolina and Georgia are solid Republican, with Republican(ha ha ha) Governors. They can do what they want. Do they? Yes, as long as it profits their donors and big business.
They both still have open primaries to ensure that their handpicked GOP candidates win.
Kemp has been selling out Georgia since the day he was inaugurated and the legislature does nothing to stop him.
We were not aware that local seats like county clerk, city council, board of elections, school boards, even state legislature, were important. Now we know. Game on.
Vote local or lose the Bill of Rights.
Two friends are on the ballot in Michigan. One for school board and the other for State Legislature.
Here I was thinking that proposing alternate electors was a crime akin to 9/11 and would get your house raided by the Feebs.
Soros and his allies have been concentrating on these “dog catcher” races for years that are paid little attention to - chipping away under the surface can have a national impact...and it has. this must be reversed.
This is actually an article reprinted from the New York Times . . .
Yahoo ripped this article from the NYT. They are the ones who are worried or concerned.
