Ukraine poked the Russian bear on Saturday by blowing up the Kerch Bridge from Russia to Crimea.
According to Russian news agency Tass, an explosion occurred in early Saturday morning on one of Putin’s prestige projects and Europe’s longest bridge, which connects Russia and Crimea.
“An object believed to be a fuel storage tank has caught fire on the Crimean Bridge, but the viaduct’s navigable arches sustained no damage, an aide to the head of Crimea, Oleg Kryuchkov, said on Saturday,” according to the news outlet.
“According to preliminary information, a fuel storage tank is on fire… Navigable arches were not damaged. It is too early to speak about causes and consequences. Work to extinguish the blaze is underway,” Kryuchkov wrote in his Telegram channel.

Crimean Bridge, also known as Kerch Strait Bridge or Kerch Bridge, is a pair of parallel bridges, one road, one rail, spanning the Kerch Strait between the Taman Peninsula of Krasnodar Krai in Russia and the Kerch Peninsula of Crimea in Ukraine.
After annexing Crimea at the start of the Russo-Ukrainian War, Russia built the bridge. It is the longest bridge ever constructed in Russia, at 19 kilometers (12 miles), and the longest bridge in all of Europe.
Besides transportation, Russia’s motivation for building the bridge was to legitimize its territorial claims in Crimea.
Russia later blamed the blast on a fuel truck explosion.
The Ukrainian Defense Department later threatened more attacks on Russia’s infrastructure following the blast.

NBC News reported:
Russia unleashed a barrage of deadly attacks on cities across Ukraine on Monday, hitting the heart of the country’s capital as part of a wave of strikes against civilians and infrastructure not seen since the very earliest days of the war.
From Lviv in the west to Kharkiv in the northeast, missiles tore through rush hour traffic and into energy facilities, in retaliation for a blast that damaged a key bridge to the annexed Crimean Peninsula over the weekend.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced in a televised address that his military had launched a series of strikes on Ukraine’s “energy, military command and communications facilities,” telling his security council it was revenge for what he called Kyiv’s long track record of “terrorist” actions, including the bridge blast.

Impossible. Russia was all but beaten last week. I read it right here.
Looks like Jose “Breakfast Taco” Biden is going to need to dig out another 40 Billion.
Wretched neocons in DC have created another WWI - Europe de-industrializing, destructive economic crisis for the entire West, radical/green utopian politics in the West, the suicide of Western civilization, mass slaughter in Europe.
Who will benefit? China and India. Welcome to the new Asian Century.
I did to, but then again, been reading such since March...
Russia is relaxed because Ukraine will not shoot back ,D’oh
Russia unleashes hell?? From all the Ukrainian victory dancing posted on FR recently, you’d think that Putin was finished and Zelensky would soon be perp-walking him through Moscow.
Yeah, I’m confused...
Europe’s problem, not ours.
2 wars for 21 years is enough.(and Syria, and Libya)
Thanks.
“Slowly but surely, but also secretly, the war is destroying the electric generation on which the Ukraine depends for everything”
Don’t call me Shirley.
Wait! Wut??
I thought Zelensky was supposed to be sashaying down Moscow’s main drag this week in his victory parade.
Yeah, no problem.
That archive link is awesome sauce.
Can use it to bypass paywalls, etc. *thumbs up*
I wonder how well those Crimean Bridge blowout stamps are selling?
Hubris can make a fool out of a person.
They can’t blow up democrats’ favorite money laundromat and prodigal son employment agency
So, Putin and his cronies are launching more terror attacks against civilian targets? How is this any different from all the other Nazi war criminal tactics he has employed in his invasion of Ukraine?
Stepping aside from the unproductive threads cheering for Ukraine or for Russia, the larger picture is as you describe,
Biden had said stupidly, 'The US must lead the new liberal world order.' A paraphrase, but generally accurate,
Whatever one thinks of the current conflict / war, the fact is that between the US and Europe, one billion may be counted, and not all may be described as part of some "new liberal order." China and India each tally well over one billion each, Africa another and South America at least another. That the Biden-neocon nexus thinks that 4 percent of the world's population is privileged to "lead" some new liberal world order in perpetuity or even in the next years is an assertion of a perception fast coming apart at the seams.
Parallel systems to SWIFT are being built, and the potential for de-dollarization rises as the months pass. Build back better?
This is not political in a party sense, though this is how the Democrats, neck deep in corruption and failure, are playing it. This is demographic.
Aemrica's hope is in becoming a partner, not an autocratic leader, in the world at large, and especially as regards Asia.
What should be put away as crazy is the nexus of the State Department's Nuland's "F*ck Europe" foreign policy escapades and the Institute for War myopia. The third term of the Obama-Biden regime is proving a disaster.
