The husband of Vice President Kamala Harris's newly appointed top advisor is embroiled in a bribery and corruption scandal that could bankrupt Sin City.
Clark County Commissioner Justin Jones, 47, was a lawyer for an environmental group when, in 2018, he allegedly entered an 'illicit and corrupt deal' with Nevada's Democratic Governor Steve Sisolak, killing a property developer's plans for a high-density residential development on 2,400 acres near Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.
Under his company, Gypsum Resources, and backed by his creditors, developer Jim Rhodes is now suing the county and its board of commissioners for damages that, he claims, run to more than $1billion.
If successful, the settlement could wipe out the $1.5billion budget of the Nevada county which is home to Las Vegas and its world-famous Strip.
Jones's wife Megan Jones was appointed Special Assistant to the President and Director of Public Engagement at the Office of the Vice President last month, according to her LinkedIn page. She had worked closely alongside former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for more than 20 years before his death in December last year.
Among the accusations against Jones is that he deleted emails – including many to his wife – as he tried to cover his tracks.

Yeah, that equipment was sitting down there for a LONG time. I was through there not too long ago and there are just those two original model homes and a couple others. Lots still graded and ready. But I suppose no one will ever get permits to build on those.
I remember, that was over proving water supply. He said he could and the state said “prove it” and he couldn’t. lol

As I understand it.he originally permitted for 1500 single family homes and took down payments and hung the saps who paid him.
The word was he intended to put over 3000 single family homes in after he go the permits for the original 1500.

Having deposed Jim Rhodes in the past, one could conclude that his version of the facts do not necessarily comport with reality.
That is what they do... change their name, file as a new corporation and they get to start all over fresh. I had several customers do that to me and I never could collect what they owed me. When they do that commercial law allows them to default on liabilities and debts to all their vendors.
Yeah, I was bidding to do all the service work and vendor tires on all that equipment. It fell apart before It happened for me.
That was our local experience with him too. :)

Good thing i did before I invested in inventory though. At that time just one scraper tire was over 3K my wholesale cost. I would have got screwed had I been into it too much with tires already mounted on their equipment. But I also probably could have got some of that equipment cheap on a mechanic’s lien. lol

Then I gotta go up in the morn and deliver these things, chew em all out again for not getting enough oil to those chains and go out and do the forester work for them.
Wish I could talk the guys up back home (UP of MIch) to come down and set up a small sawmill at the power plant and get them (Power CO) to put in a wood chip boiler to supplement the NG. They’d make out like bandits.
