Lo Chih-cheng, a lawmaker with Taiwan's ruling Democratic Progressive Party, sought to clarify whether a Chinese aircraft entering the island's territorial airspace could be considered a "first strike." Chiu replied: "Yes, that's correct."

"Of course, we have a red line. We absolutely will respond," he said.

U.S. Aims to Turn Taiwan Into Giant Weapons Depot

Officials say Taiwan needs to become a “porcupine” with enough weapons to hold out if the Chinese military blockades and invades it, even if Washington decides to send troops.

The Butchers of Beijing aren't nearly as inept as Putin and they're not nearly as concerned about public opinion (regarding casualties or anything else) as Putin. With this "warning" the world shouldn't be surprised if they try to goad the Taiwanese into some kind of attack and use it as an excuse to invade.

But they had better act quickly...there's only 2.5 years left of Rat Party rule.

Some years ago there was an independence referendum in Quebec.It failed (narrowly,IIRC). A few years ago there was a similar referendum in Scotland. It failed (by a comfortable margin,IIRC).

If those referendums (referenda?) had succeeded which nations would have rejected the independence of those newly established nations?

Geeze...gimme a break! Please don't suggest that the Taiwanese don't have the right to complete sovereignty and independence.

Kind of makes you wonder if China has even considered the possibility that Taiwan might just kick their asses.

Taiwan has one option;

If invaded, well, “...nice Three Rivers Dam you have there. It would be a shame if anyone were to bust it...”
