Muriel Bowser, the mayor of Washington, D.C., joined other city officials on Monday in announcing a new goal to make 20,000 additional black D.C. residents homeowners by 2030.
The plan, developed by the Black Homeownership Strike Force, comes with ten recommendations, including help with down payments, financial assistance for home repairs, and foreclosure avoidance, among others.
"This goal is a first step in undoing the lasting legacy of discriminatory housing laws that locked many Black families out of homeownership throughout the twentieth century,” Mayor Bowser said in a news release.
“This is about helping 20,000 Washingtonians buy homes, but it is also about helping 20,000 Washingtonians build generational wealth, stay in DC for generations to come, and benefit from the prosperity of Washington, D.C.”
The money will come from a $10 million Black Homeownership Fund established in the FY23 budget.
The recommendations include:

This has been done many times before, and it always ends in tears for everyone.
The “homeowner” can’t afford home maintenance and/or the mortgage payments—and eventually they abandon the property.
The city eventually takes over the property for unpaid taxes and sells them to slumlords at pennies on the dollar.
I guess whites are just patsies now.
$10,000,000 / 20,000 = $500 per family in some kind of assistance.
I just hope they’re not overly optimistic and putting people into financial situations they really can’t afford.

My BS-meter is hitting a ‘7’ on this announcement in DC.
The trend going on (since 2000) is that neighborhood after neighborhood (slowly) is flipping over to clean-up campaigns and working-upper-class ownership. The locals may think that the mayor is trying to help them, but the pricing is cutting them out entirely.
Democrats do not care about the Constitution anymore. They violate it all the time and nobody ever stops them.
We still like it but it is hard to fight the people who do not within the restrictions of it.
Particularly when they almost operate the entire judiciary.
Smells like 2008.
