As Mass. GOP moves right, Anthony Amore runs a lonely race as a moderate

Amore might be the loneliest Republican in Massachusetts. He's a moderate running in a party dominated by pro-Trump conservatives. And he's the only statewide Republican candidate who called for Trump's impeachment after the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Most of the Republicans running for statewide office in Massachusetts embrace Trump and his conservative positions. So do many Republican voters, who reject the moderate Republicanism of Gov. Charlie Baker and derisively call him and Amore RINOs, or Republicans In Name Only.

"I got a hate-mail yesterday about how I’m 'Rino-scum' because Charlie Baker made me his only endorsement," Amore said, while campaigning on a recent weekend at the Johnny Appleseed Arts and Cultural Festival in Central Massachusetts.

In the race for auditor, Amore is pushing against his party's swing to the right, even if it costs him the support of pro-Trump Republicans voters. "Many people who describe themselves as Trump supporters would rather blank the ballot and have a Democrat," Amore said.

Oh, the irony! Charlie Baker and his ilk would ALL prefer Democrats to conservatives, but Tony-Boy here is upset that conservatives would prefer a Democrat win than him.

Welcome to our world, Tony-Boy! Ask Mitt Romney who he voted for. Ask George Bush who he voted for.

And ask Charlie Baker why he BLANKED his ballot for President in both 2016 and 2020. Ask him why he "would rather blank the ballot and have a Democrat"

I'll decide on November 8th if I'll give this clueless guy a vote or if I'll blank my ballot like Baker, since moderates are SOOOO enlightened and their virtuous examples must be followed!

Revelation 3:15-16 King James Version (KJV)
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth.

"Many people who describe themselves as Trump supporters would rather blank the ballot and have a Democrat,"

And most Never-Trumpers will cut to the chase and vote for the Democrat. Cleaning the saboteurs out of the party is hard and painful.

The Democrats have moved far, far left.

The Republicans have not moved. We still believe the same principles....small gov’t, fiscal responsibility, pro-life, pro-gun and sober foreign policy.

Democrats went from abortion being “safe, legal and rare” to infanticide.
Democrats went from marriage is between 1 man & 1 woman to bestiality & polygamy.
Democrats went from anti-war to inciting wars.
Democrats went from “reasonable” gun control to gun confiscation.
Democrats went from “think about the children” to forced genital mutilation.

I don't think squishy Republicans anywhere will do well.

Not saying that Trump Republicans will win in MA, but I think they'll do better than RINOs.

MA has gone so far right that a “moderate” Republican has a chance?

In the words of Billy Gibbons: “Have Mercy!”

This is true and has been proven. Republicans hold the same views now as they did in the 1990s. It’s just that the Democrats have moved so far left.

Moderate Republican: someone who calls himself a Republican, lies to his constituents about his conservative principles and positions and if elected ignores everythng he said during the election and gives in to Democrat demands.

PGR88, there do exist real conservatives in this state, not just even “Republicans”.

We should support those folks anywhere we can find them.

“Many people who describe themselves as Trump supporters would rather blank the ballot and have a Democrat,”

And rightfully so. RINOs are worse than Democrats. RINOs are the infiltration arm of the Democrat party. They do far more damage within the Republican party than any Democrat could do overtly.

It is called "The Overton Window".

He’s running for auditor. It’s not a big ideological position. His work is going to be pretty straightforward if he gets elected. He seems to get along very well with Howie Carr, and he does owe Howie. He probably should have found the stolen paintings by now though.

Are there any moderate Democrats in Massachusett? Now that would make an interesting needle-in-a-haystack feature.

OK, so he is RINO scum. Good to know.
