Obedience to authority is obedience to authority.

It is a very hard habit to break.

Understanding that the buttons you’re pushing don’t actually DO anything isn’t obeying, it’s head patting. You’re just going through motions. I don’t handle customer data but I assure them I would do it properly even though I don’t remember a damn thing the module said 5 minutes later. I don’t make deals but I assure them I wouldn’t take unethical gifts if I did, even though I would totally take gifts if some vendor was dumb enough to offer them. I don’t give a damn about “implicit bias” but I assure them that I’ll be nice to the 4 minority employees we have, which I am cause they’re cool guys.

See I understand what these things are all about. You don’t. They are NOT about training. They are NOT about teaching. They are NOT about changing people. They ARE about legal coverage. So if something goes down the company has a legal defense, they can say they tried, that they followed all the recommendation of some government agency somewhere. I know that. They know that. Our nurse here should have known that. None of it means anything. And anybody that thinks it does, in either direction, is just lying to themselves.

You are the one who does not understand.

But—to be fair—it is not just you that does not understand.

Your boss does not understand and their boss probably does not understand.

It is a culture of ignorance that pretends that none of this stuff matters.

Once you start justifying why you are obeying authority they can get you to do anything.

Anything.

And—you will always have a reason, a justification, an excuse—that you and your boss and their boss can agree on...

That is what the Milgram Experiment was about—and that was when they reached the deeply unsettling conclusion that “it could happen here....”.

I understand. My boss understands. Their boss understands. And on up the chain, through HR and legal. We all get it. It’s just going through the motions None of it does matter. And only fool thinks it does.

Again, the Milgram Experiment was a LIE. They faked the results. They didn’t bother to actually find out of the subject BELIEVED a word they were saying. They mostly didn’t. And once you understand that most of the people pushing the button KNEW the button did NOTHING you understand why these things really don’t matter.

But as long as you believe the Milgram results are not a lie, as long as you bow to THAT authority, you will never understand why these thing REALLY DON’T MATTER.

I am truly afraid of you.

You will never figure out why it wrong to obey orders—and there is nothing I can do about it.

Front-line/charge nursing for 39 years?

Someone in the early 60s nearing retirement

Still had a 'supervisor'?

If she had been called out specifically, solely to take this course, that's one thing; but the way to fix Continuing Education courses is to simply block these modules statutorily. That's on her, for relying on her Nursing Association to block that content. Instead they were the ones who inserted it.

There's still an argument to be made to go back to the job and continue to punch down on the bad nurses, because the bias training is specifically meant to get you to resign; and the reason they want you to resign is cost-based. She was making six figures, the puta they want to replace her with isn't making half that.

No, you pass the CE classes, and then you go to the legislature and punch down hard on your employer and your Nursing Association. You embarrass them publically so that no one will want to work for them, and no one will want to be treated there. And then if they fire you, you've got them by the short hairs.

Withdrawing from the field of battle and then posting a bitch & moan to the MSM is the best way to be ignored.

BWAHAHAHAHA

I’m truly sad for you. You will figure out that the button ISN’T CONNECTED TO ANYTHING. The whole Milgram thing is completely different once you understand that the “tester” were actually the subjects. The real experiment is “how long will these socalled scientists keep lying to prove a point they’re already wrong about?” And the answer was “way too long”. And you’re showing it. Just like the scientists you KNOW the button isn’t connected to anything. And yet you will lie to yourself forever to insist that it means something when it’s pushed. And there’s nothing I can do.

Oh well, have a great day.

"One of the keys to my mellowing out is having developed a very strong definition of what is and isn't my business, putting a lot of stuff in the "not my business" category, and learning that the less I bother with things not my business the happier I was. "Because of that I pretty much no longer have a position on the social political spectrum, this can be confused for liberal but it isn't, I really just don't care about most of those things, people can sort it out without me."

"That's the problem with people who look for hills to die on. It's watch some videos and push some buttons."

Hmmm... Speaking of buttons, yours may be even larger then Hillary's.!

It matters, it always matters. You just don't give a shit..

Try George Orwell's 1984.. You've probably already read it, but I think you could use a refresher.. :)

It only matters if you’re gullible enough to believe the labcoats. Once you recognize the innate lie of it all it becomes a improv exercise. Do you play along with the joke, or not? I’m not gullible, I know the buttons do nothing, I play along, I push their stupid button, and they’re happy, and I go about my life, also happy.

The article is lacking details. I am guessing fake news. At ~60 years old WTF is going quit their job and sell their car if they aren’t ready to retire?

If I was ever employed at a company that required phony training, I’d be allowed to skip it. For my last two years in the Army from 1977-79, I was an Equal Opportunity Staff Officer.

In short, I’d be able to destroy any consultant’s B.S. claims about White’s being racist against blacks or any other woke claims. I had the formal training that corporate consultants lack.

I had to go through this bs too at the hospital I work in.

I said “I don't have any unconscious bias'' I said "I'm fully aware of my bias and the last time I looked I had a right to think for myself''. After first refusing to listen to the video I was threatened with a write up. I said "Go ahead and I'll contact my attorney and file a law suit''. Nothing ever became of it other than one of my supervisors just put the answers through the system and I was listed as having attended the lecture. You have to threaten to take legal action. It usually backs them off.

No you wouldn’t. For one thing none of these trainings are done with a consultant, it’s just videos. And for another none of these training are about “claims” or “teaching” or any of that. It’s just legal coverage, the entire purpose of ALL the corporate training (including the customer data and everything else) is simply so that if you screw up, when somebody sues the company lawyer can stand up in court and say “well we put them through the training” and reduce and maybe even entirely avoid their liability. That’s all it is. One day of stupid videos and idiot questions a year so that if I screw up I stand alone. Which is fine, cause I don’t screw up.
