Russian president Vladimir Putin will hold a ceremony “annexing” four Russian-occupied territories in Ukraine today (in a move widely seen as illegitimate), and will also give a speech. Get the latest on Putin’s annexation ceremony and speech in our LIVE COVERAGE.
The four Ukrainian territories which Putin is planning to annex (i.e. declare to be parts of Russia) are Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson. Most of the world will not recognize the purported Russian annexation as legitimate, and will instead see it as Putin attempting to take by force another country’s sovereign territory. Russia last week held what are widely believed to be sham “referendums” in the Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine and claimed that residents of the regions voted to join Russia by enormous margins. Today Putin will reportedly host an annexation ceremony at the Kremlin where he will declare that the four Ukrainian regions are now part of Russia. He is also expected to give a speech. In this interactive LIVE breaking news stream, host Steve Lookner brings you the latest updates on Putin’s ceremony to annex Ukrainian territory as well as his accompanying speech, and Steve will also read your comments and questions on the air!
The ceremony starts at 3pm Moscow time, 8AM EST
Complete joke. Hard to annex something you don’t control.
The territories are now officially part of Russia and they will be defended by the RA.
No, they’re not, and Comrade Putin can try, but he won’t succeed. He’s on the same insane path as Hitler.
It doesn't matter what you and Biden believe.
They’re officially part of Russia according to Russia and even she didn’t think they were part of Russia just yesterday. Russia is setting itself up for decades of guerilla warfare.
Might is not Right.....but might does make reality. We will find out.
Was it illegitimate when the ppl of Quebec voted for independence?
Was it illegitimate when Kosovo voted to be an independent country?
Was it illegitimate when Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia citizens cast their votes to be free from Russia?
The globalists & neocons are looking more and more pathetic. 🤣
That's right
More Kabuki theater.
I would like to see as much suffering and destruction visited upon Russia as Russia has visited upon Ukraine .
What goes around should come around , and Russia, the scourge of smaller neighboring nations, is due for its fair share of pain and humiliation.
I won’t pity them a bit, they deserve it, they have earned it . I hope they get it.
Do svidanya motherf-ers
The same Neocons who believe the 11/3/20 election was legitimate, believe this election was illegitimate.
This is happening right after Ukraine tyrants have outlawed the use of the Russian language in Ukraine.
Why would the United States government give assistance to a bunch of tyrants who demanded those of Russian culture and language abandon their homes, friends and families and LEAVE Ukraine?
All opposition to Ukraine’s ruling trash has been outlawed, including journalists, radio and TV.
Those civilians now liberated have been subjected to artillery attacks by the Ukraine regime for eight years.
If the U.S. government condones these outrages, the American people should rise up and demand the end to ANY U.S. assistance to those tyrants because events in Ukraine are NONE OF AMERICA’S BUSINESS.
Its what an imperialist, expansionist and aggressive Russian state has done in the past.
In 1939 the German–Soviet victory parade took place in Polish town of Brest-Litovsk. As allies, Russians-Nazis celebrated liberating Poland from the Poles
“Putin Annexes Ukrainian Territories”
Actually annexation is an act of the Russian Parliament, not one person.
Regardless, no doubt a LOT of Ukrainians now wish they had ‘taken the deal’ that Putin offered them both before the war and soon after it began, where they kept all but Crimea, but had to RESPECT the Russians living there (instead of driving them out - ‘purifying’ the country as the Neocon community sees it).
I have NO DOUBT that had Trump been permitted to stay in office, he would have told Ukraine that if they did not accept the offer, then they would be on their own to deal with Russia.
Anyway, we are where we are and the question is what next. It seems to me that the Neocons no longer permit Russia to export its natural gas through undersea pipelines, so they’ll need to establish a land bridge to Southern Europe and beyond, so they can get their gas to countries that aren’t Neocon puppets, at least. So look to Odessa next.
LOL, or more honestly ask people to learn the language of the country they live in. The horror!
LOL, Puerto Rico? Talk about corrupt!
“As allies, Russians-Nazis celebrated liberating Poland from the Poles”
I guess that I missed the part of them being allies. What countries did they jointly attack after Poland?
