Dr. Oz's crime 'diagnosis' places blame on 'radical' John Fetterman: 'We have got to take our cities back'

Republican Pennsylvania Senate nominee Dr. Mehmet Oz says his "diagnosis" to the rising crime plaguing his state places blame squarely on his "radical" Democratic opponent, Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, for creating the conditions for criminal activity to prosper.

In an interview this week with Fox News Digital, Oz asserted that instances of violent crime, as well as events like the ransacking of a Wawa gas station by a mob of people over the weekend, were now "normalized," and described such occurrences as a "cancer" to society.

"We've normalized thoughtless, destructive criminal acts. The question you ask in the morning is how many homicides happened last night? It's not, was there a murder? It's crazy that it's become that commonplace. And the lawlessness – and that's what this is about – is like a cancer," he said.

For his sharp approach to crime that has skyrocketed in cities like Philadelphia, which saw a shooting of four high school students on Tuesday, Oz was endorsed by the Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police. Furthering what he said in his Monday speech to the group when accepting the endorsement, Oz told Fox News Digital that crime rates were continuing to grow because there weren't enough police to tackle the issue.

“We have got to take our cities back from the far-left. I was in Kensington, which is the largest open air drug market in America. It’s right in the middle of Philadelphia. And this is an area that Rocky used to run through the streets there in the movie,” Oz said. “It’s a lower middle class, clean neighborhood that you could make a living in and live in. Now, you can’t do any of that. You’ve got hundreds of people with needles sticking out of their necks, oblivious to life.”

“When I went down there, four different people approached me – the divine spark gone from their eyes, asking – begging if I could take them to detox. We have politicians who think they have to care about caring and nothing more. I argue we have to care about fixing,” he said.

“We have to deal with the woke mob who have lost their way and are willing to sacrifice, in order to virtue signal, the lives of Philadelphians in Pennsylvania. And that’s what we’re witnessing with this rampage over the weekend,” he added.

Oz vowed he would combat crime by supporting policies that would close the border to the record-high number of migrants entering the U.S. to claim asylum, tying up the legal system, and providing funds to the drug cartels and allowing them to continue smuggling drugs.

He said he would ensure police departments were adequately funded, support community policing policies, and make sure municipalities received federal support for law enforcement whenever possible.

“For too long, a small group in our nation’s Capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost.

“Their victories have not been your victories; their triumphs have not been your triumphs; and while they celebrated in our nation’s Capital, there was little to celebrate for struggling families all across our land.

“Americans want great schools for their children, safe neighborhoods for their families, and good jobs for themselves.

“These are the just and reasonable demands of a righteous public.

“But for too many of our citizens, a different reality exists: Mothers and children trapped in poverty in our inner cities; rusted-out factories scattered like tombstones across the landscape of our nation; an education system, flush with cash, but which leaves our young and beautiful students deprived of knowledge; and the crime and gangs and drugs that have stolen too many lives and robbed our country of so much unrealized potential.”

I have actually watched Dr. Oz on and off over the years and think he’s pretty much a what-you-see-is-what-you-get sort of person without nefarious intent. I may come to eat those words but that’s what my gut tells me.

I don’t live or vote in Pennsylvania, but I would not vote against/for anyone just based on their religious beliefs-FJB and Pelosi both claim to be Catholics-wouldn’t vote for them-and I’m Catholic-I can see that Fetterman is a total disaster waiting to happen-and I don’t know or care what religion he claims to practice...

Crime, crime, crime, crime - four reasons the Democrat Socialists are not doing so well.

Crime on the streets. Criminals now operate with impunity.

Crime in the courtrooms. Criminals, even if once captured, are turned loose by “soft-hearted” judges and prosecutors.

Crime in the halls of legislative chambers, where “laws” are written and put into force even when they are contrary in intent and purpose of the language of the US Constitution and all legal precedent, stripping out limitations and imposing sometimes impossible mandates.

Crime at our national borders and ports of entry, where persons of unknowable intentions and uncertain motives are simply being allowed to be waved in, regardless of the cumulative consequences.

There are plenty more, but it all boils down to lack of will to enforce the long-standing laws that were ALREADY on the books, but being ignored or misapplied to assure an entirely inequitable outcome to favor one set of standards for one demographic, and and an entirely different set of standards for those not in “political favor”.

A word of warning - this “political favor” thing can change overnight, depending on the whim of whoever can exert the most legislative and executive moxie.

The Democrats want to make the November election all about “abortion rights”.

Republicans need to make November all about how the market crash is affecting your 401K, how inflation is affecting your savings and buying power, and how crime in the streets is affecting your safety and quality of life.

I’m starting to sense some tangible resentment among Freepers over the two major PA races … as this leftist Oz has been running a very effective campaign, while that “MAGA conservative” Mastriano has turned out to be an invisible loser.

I agree with you. I saw that 10% of Trump voters are supporting Fetterman, along with virtually all Biden voters.

They are throwing the race - and probably the Senate.

Crime is often abstract to white Leftists like my PA in-laws and their children. No responsibility, just CRT and its “All the white man’s fault.” Since my in-laws and their brood live in safe areas of suburban Philly, so they just deny soaring crime or say we need to treat criminals better.

What fresh madness is this? I can see not voting, or voting for the Constipation Party or the Loonytarian Party ...

Voting for Festerman is like drinking Hemlock laced with arsenic, cyanide, and VX.
