Seismologists Reveal Suspected Cause of Damage to Nord Stream Pipelines
epoch times ^ | 28 September A.D. 2022 | Jack Phillips

Two undersea leaks that began in the Nord Stream 1 and 2 natural gas pipelines were likely caused by underwater explosions, according to seismographic data.

Bjorn Lund‬, director of the Swedish National Seismic Network at Uppsala University, told NPR Wednesday that it is “very clear from the seismic record that these are blasts.” Neither of the gas pipelines were active when officials reported sudden losses of gas pressure late on Monday, which they said could only be caused by significant leaks.

“These are not earthquakes,” he added. “They are not landslides underwater.” And in an interview with Swedish television, Lund said he has “no doubt that these were explosions.”

His team was able to determine that the blasts occurred in the vicinity of the location of the pipelines. Both Danish and Swedish seismic agencies picked up the alleged explosions on Monday, he said.

“We’re not spot on, but we’re fairly close to the area of the leakage,” Lund told NPR, adding, “There’s nothing I could come up with that would produce this.”

H.I. Sutton, who has written on submarine warfare, said that where the alleged blasts occurred, the water was at a relatively shallow depth. Divers or unmanned vehicles could have easily accessed it, he wrote.

“The leak is near the Danish island of Bornholm, at 54.8762°, 15.4099° in [approximately] 70 meters of water,” he wrote on Twitter. “This would be divable 2 things do make it suspicious: a) It is just over 12 nautical miles from the Island in International waters b) the [exclusive economic zone] here is disputed here.” Blame

U.S. officials on Tuesday noted that there is a possibility that the leaks were caused deliberately. But European Union leaders were more explicit and said the damage was done intentionally.

“The European Union is deeply concerned about damage to the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines that has resulted in leaks in the international waters of the Baltic Sea,” the European Council said in a statement. “Safety and environmental concerns are of utmost priority. These incidents are not a coincidence and affect us all.”

Other officials, including Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, also suggested the incident was a deliberate act. No group or nation-state has claimed responsibility.

It’s “hard to imagine,” Frederiksen told European media outlets, that the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipeline leaks were “accidental.”

While some have suggested that Russia may have been behind the incident, it was denied by top officials in Moscow.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov on Wednesday told reporters that Russia isn’t behind the leaks, adding such claims are “quite predictable and also predictably stupid,” Reuters reported.

Both Nord Stream I and II run from Russia to Germany, with Nord Stream I delivering billions of cubic feet of natural gas from Russia to Europe over the years.

Since the start of the Ukraine conflict, Germany suspended the accreditation of Nord Stream II, and Nord Stream I has been plagued by shutdowns. Months after the start of the Ukraine–Russia conflict, EU officials said European countries would move to reduce dependence on Russian gas and other energy imports, including via Nord Stream I.

But Peksov said that the damage this week “is a big problem” for Russia.

“Firstly, both lines of Nord Stream … are filled with gas. The entire system is ready to pump gas and the gas is very expensive … now the gas is flying off into the air,” Peskov said.

“Are we interested in that? No, we are not, we have lost a route for gas supplies to Europe,” he added.

FBI reports finding classified documents in Melania Trump’s underwear drawer that prove beyond a doubt that Orange Man ordered this to be done.

I agree as far as the illustrations go but, you know as well as I do that nations have no more free will than any other actor on the stage and that the script they are following is written by unseen writers that determine how the story is supposed to unfurl.

The actors havent been of any importance for a long time. Supranational organizations have been writing the scripts since long before we have been around.

Which script is purchased and produced is determined by the one holding the purse.

It may be our assets and our government has been the lead actor for a long time but who wrote the script and, more importantly, who bought it?

You know, the world has a LOT of nat gas. The real problem is getting it to market, not really getting it.

The real issue with Russia is that it is geographically able to deliver gas via pipelines, and it has, creating an effective monopoly.

This is a problematic condition. This is not a “golden goose”. Its a classic case of becoming dependent on a single source for essential fuel - and that is also a matter of Europeans foolish whimsies, but that’s another issue. Under such circumstances one is subject to unfortunate “leverage”.

This is all a huge malpractice of governance. Decades of it, counting the “green” policies. Now the Euros have to turn on a dime to make up for decades of foolishness. But they are getting there, IMHO. A bit of this and a bit of that, in a society with immense resources.

Biden confessed it before the fact, and so did Jake Sullivan.

One characteristic of those who worship Lucifer is they believe by announcing their evil deeds in advance, they gain Lucifer’s praise, power, and protection. I will leave you with one example and then a question. An example is the John Hopkins’ October Event 201 predating a worldwide Covid disaster. Note no one has yet been tagged as the evil doers on this one. Now, for a question: Why would Biden and Nuland ‘announce’ the Nord Stream takedown before it was brought down? Will they ever be tagged?

Russia has been flaring off $10 million USD natural gas daily. Last year this gas would have gone to Germany via Nord Stream One.

Biden’s defense will be that he wasn’t president when the explosions happened...
At least, he remembers it that way after reading the card his handlers handed to him...

We will never know the truth unless the actual president, Barack Obamy, speaks up...

I remember people saying that a large rumble in North Korea could have been just an earthquake so seismologists did have to figure that out.

Likewise this time they proved what was suspected. I like "definitely" rather than "probably".

Russia’s NG assets are spread in an incredibly wide network of pipelines across western Russia. This makes their resources very sturdy and redundant. Hit a facility here or there, no big deal. Terrestrial pipelines are easy to repair.

Europe, minus NS, is screwed. There simply are not enough LNG facilities to replace the NS pipelines. The UK gets, I’ve read, one LNG tanker a day, and it HAS to get that tanker, or they go from “depression level” to “survival level” very fast.

An LNG facility is VERY easy to take out in a way it cannot be repaired/replaced for years.

Glass houses/stones.

New LNG is coming in quickly, and then there is electric backfill coming from nuke and coal gen from around the Euro grid, all that is ramping up.

Its irrelevant what the domestic Russian pipeline system is, the point and problem is that the Euros need to stop connecting to it. No energy source should be relied on that much without means to replace it. That this is all controlled by a single entity makes it much worse. And that this entity is Russia makes it simply absurd. Thats why the US was opposed to this from the beginning.

Nordstream I and II weren’t running. The Batic pipeline had just opened up.

Will the Baltic pipeline supply enough gas to Europe to make up for the Nordstram loss?

The Norway-Poland pipeline can only deliver 10% of what Russia was supplying.

Europe is screwed.

And America / Biden just triple screwed them by blowing up NS 1 and NS 2, aborting even the CHANCE that Europe might reconsider the sanctions.

Explosions Destroy Nord Stream Pipelines

Sept. 27 (EIRNS)—Monday night, Sept. 26, first the submarine gas pipeline from Russia to Germany Nord Stream 2, and then Nord Stream were destroyed by explosions. Today, Radek Sikorski, the former Foreign Minister of Poland and current Member of the European Parliament, tweeted a photo of the Baltic Sea above the area of the destroyed pipelines, with the text “Thank you, U.S.A.” By way of explaining his meaning, Sikorski then retweeted a video of Joe Biden at a Feb. 7 press conference on Feb. 7: “If Russia invades, that means tanks and troops crossing the border of Ukraine, then there will no longer be a Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it.” A reporter asked: “How will you do that exactly, since the project is under Germany’s control?” Biden responded grinning smugly: “I promise you, we’ll be able to do it.”

Sikorski is married to American neocon Anne Applebaum, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and board member of the National Endowment for Democracy.

The terrorist attack on the pipelines significantly reduces the potential for German-Russian rapprochement and has made Poland one of the most pivotal energy hubs for Europe.

The Anglo-American masters of NATO stand to “gain” the most (in their way of thinking).

This summer’s BALTOPS exercises were reported in June in Seapower magazine to have involved “unmanned underwater vehicle mine hunting technology.” These operations were conducted in the area of the current explosions of the Nord Stream pipelines. “Experimentation was conducted off the coast of Bornholm, Denmark,” reports Seapower, “with participants from Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific, Naval Undersea Warfare Center Newport, and Mine Warfare Readiness and Effectiveness Measuring.”

You have to ask yourself; why would Putin blow up his own pipeline which will require massive expense and time to repair when he could JUST SHUT OFF THE VALVES?

In your humble opinion, why did the US not want the Israelis to not build their pipeline from the Med to Egypt and Crete and on to Greece?

Well, it is Natural Gas, a Fossil Fuel.

That stuff just blows up and contaminates the total atmosphere.

What did they expect, with a whole pipeline full of it?
