The sentencing trial of Parkland school shooter Nikolas Cruz is being delayed as Hurricane Ian threatens to slam Florida.
Circuit Judge Elizabeth Scherer postponed the trial — which was expected to continue through the rest of the week — until Monday.
The state began making its rebuttal case on Tuesday and was expected to resume its arguments on Wednesday, Thursday and a half-day Friday. However the Broward County Courthouse where Cruz’s trial is underway will be closed at least on Wednesday and Thursday due to “the potential impact of Hurricane Ian,” the county clerk’s website states.
The state is seeking the death penalty in the case after Cruz pleaded guilty in October to slaughtering 17 victims with an AR-15 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Valentine’s Day in 2018.

I’m sorry, I didn’t hear about Hurricane Ian going to D.C.?! Or, were they having the meeting in Tampa?!?
This is just an excuse for not having a single thing on which to hang their hats!!
Keep this up the guy will go free ...
Denied a speedy trial ...
there’s no reason why they can’t have their committee hearing in Washington, just because a hurricane is hitting Florida.
I think we all know the real reason, that the news media will not give saturation coverage to Liz Cheney at the same time as the hurricane is hitting Florida. Liz wants that saturation coverage.
If the hurricane was vaccinated this would not of happened...
It seems to have been boosted however....
Nailed it. Liz has to have her hearing as the center of attention. She still thinks people care to watch.
You know it is all just politics when they cancel for a hurricane that is no threat to the DC area.
They didn’t want Ian to interrupt the coverage
Lyin Liz hit hardest
What a disappointment
.
And weren’t we all waiting breathlessly for the next episode of the Liz Cheney show??
Sarcasm
January 6th Commie-mittee wants a five day weekend.
The Jan. 6 hearing is a media performance, and they do not want to get pre-empted by real news.
