There’s 5 of them off the coast in Atlantic City. Can see them for miles coming down the Parkway. Nobody wants to see this the whole ride down. But most people in this state are dumb and will applaud this.
How much are they paying off to this Commie bastard?
Due to out-migration for economic reasons and the COVID fiasco, I would not be surprised if New Jersey lost a net total of several hundred thousand Republican voters between the time Murphy was elected in 2017 and his re-election bid in 2021.
Yes, around 4AM, November 3rd.
You got that right.
I thought the windmill fad had died off by now.
How much energy and resources does it take to mine, manufacture, transport, and construct just one of those windmills, no including the permanent destruction of the landscape and the things like destruction of the view and impact on animals. How much energy is produced over the lifetime of that windmill? Is it more than the energy it took to produce it?
While technically viable, wind energy is economically NOT viable. Increased use of wind and solar has not reduced emissions. Wind electric power generation is a poor technology that no one would use without permanent government mandates and massive subsidies and taxes that are adding $ billions a year in power cost. They are also unreliable, non-recyclable, have negative environmental impacts, have shorter productive life spans than alternative power sources, and constitute aesthetic pollution. They would be banned if EPA did its job. The blades kill birds, kill bats, add environmental noise, and more.
At 10 years of life, blades and gearboxes may need to be replaced. The cost to teardown a single turbine is $200,000, and may not be recyclable. Wind turbines fail because of birds, lightning, rainfall, blade detachment, delamination, blade cracks. Internally, electrical and mechanical failures are to blame such as a short circuit or if the gearbox gets jammed.
Electrical failures are the most common. These failures are mostly due to high humidity levels in the nacelle and tower where the electrical components are located. Moisture in the air weakens metal components such as the gearbox, bearings, and yaw gear. There is a lot of moisture off shore.
Weather caused failures can be catastrophic such as the extreme cold in Texas when the system failed at the worse time. Hurricanes and tornadoes can destroy the monstrosities.
Wind power only works when there is wind. The intermittency of wind power generation means that other, reliable sources have to cycle up and down, repeatedly. This decreases efficiency and increases emissions. Taxpayer dollars would be better spent in reducing emissions in fossil fuels.
“30 BILLION worth of damage, not 30 MILLION!”
Thank you. I have been going through a series of eye surgeries and I don’t see as well as I used to.

“Seems like American engineering could design some windmills that could withstand the weather too?”
New designs for offshore oil facilities built since 1988 are designed to withstand “100- year Storms,” a designation that includes everything up to Category 5 events. One of those designs is called a Jack up rig. In advance of a storm, the company will direct its rig managers to take on extra ballast water in order to increase the overall stability and weight of the rig on the seafloor and to take advantage of this greater weight and stability to raise the deck platforms higher, improving the rig’s ability to withstand wave heights of up to 60 feet.
As for wind turbines, they are already taller than the oil rigs and they typically face incoming winds and have incredibly stiff blades while they float. But building this type of rigid structure is expensive. Hence the researchers found that blades facing away from the wind are less likely to hit the turbine tower during high winds. This way, the blades don’t have to be constructed to be so heavy and stiff. Instead, they can be lightweight and more flexible, which also makes them less expensive.
Like palm trees, the blades will gently bend during strong winds rather than break. But this design is not currently on all the turbines out there and is still “on the black board” at places like the University of Virginia, the University of Texas at Dallas, the Colorado School of Mines and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. So there still are vulnerable turbines out there. Wind turbine platforms is a relative new item. Maybe in time. But the season is just getting starting. And the first of the ocean placed wind turbines weren’t placed until 2019 near Spain. So it’s kind of new.

Pay attention American voters!
When you elect dumbass LIEberal Democrats, you get, among other things beside crime, chaos, confusion and NO RESPECT, THSE FREAKING WINDMILLS!
UGLIEST BIRD KILLERS ON THE PLANET!
“ How well can these hurricane catchers weather a hurricane?”
Yet to be known. But you can bet someone did a calculation on the durability that indicated it could withstand a grade bazillion storm!
GOD BLESS you!
45 Blossom Cove Rd. Red Bank, NJ 07701
Complete with tennis court, swimming pool and a nice dock which extends out into the cove. Can't have those ugly wind turbines ruining his view now can we? No sir.
NIMBY on steroids.
Oh, and notice the fence at the front of the property to keep out the riff-raff. Ironic for a guy who prides himself on governing a "sanctuary" state where illegals are "welcome".. just not in his neighborhood unless they are part of the maintenance staff.
No they didnt’
Can the blades be furled during a REALLY big blow?
A state full of fools has a fool for a captain of the ship of state. Same story as every red state: Urban areas vote hard left. Rural and suburban areas are moderate to very conservative, but they’re outnumbered by the urban areas. That’s how Oregon, California, New York, Illinois, Virginia and possibly Georgia now role. And many of them will continue to kill babies, who won’t grow up, get red pilled, and vote the other way.
“NJ Jersey voted for him”
Actually—the election was stolen.
The only thing the voters of New Jersey are guilty of is getting scammed by the criminal Democratic Party.
They should paint red dots on the blades so at a given RPM we see the Hammer and Sickle because they are a constant reminder in the most scenic places of this Sovietization and the insensibility of this unreliable sun based energy generator.
Your average Nuclear Powerplant is a visual Sofia Loren compared to these eyesores.
It's been done on purpose IMHO, can't they not destroy anything, such as a scenic vista?
It's like a statue of Lenin with motion....
