That’s the problem with the ukraine there are no 100% good guys. They don’t exist. Just one more reason we need to stay away from there and the mid east, both are no-win areas.
ONe more reason we need Trump back in office.

On February 24th the die was cast that we’re going to have an awful War in Europe that’s going to be bloodier and more costly than almost anyone was anticipating 8 months ago :( I have worked in Poland/Russia, gotten to know these cultures well in those countries and surrounding ones, and the mindset is just what it is :( The Ukrainians aren’t easily going to give up. The Putin regime isn’t goung to easily give up. It’s just so sad :(

What do I think should be done? I’m not sure we can do anything effective, without making things worse. But I do think we should get more educated.

1. First and foremost, we need to understand the Russian mindset. There are a huge number of them who think all will be well if the USSR is restored & who have very selective memories on what people have said/done in agreements, conferences, and other events of the past generation & history before that. This (along with the lack of protections of the 1st Amendment) is how a Putin can stay in power now. The whole country is like Facebook/Twitter when it comes to freedom of speech. The mindset isn’t going to change anytime soon, even if Putin dies :(

2. For the Ukrainians, its their homeland. Throughout the 90s and early 21st century in schools/society they have worked hard to try to build a national identity that incldues all of the territory that the USSR made as part of the Ukrainian SSR & which became an independent nation with the breakup of the USSR. Just like with Belarus, the people of Ukraine have mostly embraced their own national language and wanted to free themselves of Russian, a lot like how the diehard Catalonians feel about Castillian Spanish. And many Ukrainian patriots have been living all over the country in every village, though just as some cities in the USA have neighborhoods with just a few Republicans (like Boston, DC, Detroit, Chicago) where those Republicans believe in the USA Constitution & these minorities in such areas of Dobnas/Crimea were believers in Ukrainian Patriotism. So, this desire to maintain the territorial integrity of Ukraine is very strong.

3. For many Russians, much of it is now their homeland too :( They are hardly going to be willing to give up Crimea after 8+ years & much of the Dobnas either & go look at the Ukrainian elections (before 10 years ago) and see how much of the southeastern areas of the country very much were pro-Russia in their elections. There are many people in those areas who will be just as mad to be part of Ukraine again (instead of Russia) as the western Ukrainians would be to get occupied by Russia. Go read #2 and see why its so maddening.

4. The USA is hardly ready to take on Russia-China. The military needs to prove itself as being more capable than just acting as station where people can go to get free funding for gender transitioning. We could easily have a Pearl Harbor x 100 moment (or much worse) for the USA. There is no precedent that I know of in Russian history to do such a surprise attack. But, in the modern era, all bets are off on history needing to repeat or rhyme when it comes to warfare strategy. Right now the primary focus should be on preparing the USA military so there are choices for America besides just having to obey Putin. This Russian narcissist understands very well how Power works better than most because he doesn’t care for people, doesn’t believe in democratic principles, and thinks its fine to bully his way over people. And if the USA military is powerful then he won’t attack and then we don’t have to obey Putin. Even if he did attack, I doubt Americans would ever submit willingly to Putin’s regime. He’d unite America more than anyone has ever done in American history, including December 1941.

5. Putin opened the bottle and the genie is loose now on nuclear armaggeddon. It may not happen in this War. But it will happen someday :( Ukraine gave up nukes because they were promised that their territorial integrity would be forever respected by Russia. Why Putin invaded Ukraine is because they do not have the nuclear deterrent. If they had this deterrent then Putin would’ve left them alone. Every drug cartel leader, mafia boss, rogue state leader, and other power hungry narcissist of the present/future is learning this lesson well. They won’t want to get ukrained or end up like Khadaffi. Thus, I expect to see a very quiet but certain and steady growth in the global nuclear arms race :(

Thank you very much for your educated and insightful contribution to these threads. If you would, please give us your feelings about NATO expansion post 1991, the Biden administration’s belligerent position, never once suggesting peace talks, the sabotage of the Nord Streams, the corruption in Ukrains as connected to Biden & family and the developing BRICS alliance impact on the US. Thanks.

I pray for peace that’s why I opposed and oppose Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

Why do you support this war caused by Putin’s invasion of Ukraine?

Russia and Ukraine could have gotten along like the Italians and Austrians do in Sud Tyrol.

But Putin has created this hatred that will take generations to die.

I pray for peace

Stop lying, we all see your posts. You're dancing in Russian war blood as you pretend to be praying. Our Lord had a word for you, it's hypocrite

You Ivan are “dancing in Russian blood” — you support this war.

Instead you should be telling your President Putin to withdraw his troops to 2013 borders

When it comes to religion, why would anyone pay attention to you, a Polish war pig?

I ain’t Polish.

But you, Ivan, are definitely Ruskie - and not Christian either :)

Putin is also not Christian - he only pays lip service and gilds his palaces

Why would anyone listen to your religious thoughts knowing you are a war pig who dances in the blood of innocent people?
