Similar thing happened in VA in 2013, however it was a bipolar son & he committed suicide after stabbing his dad. Very sad.

“...I found myself in a situation that I hoped would never happen.” -— That’s an odd statement, unless he was afraid of his daughter before this.
You never know what someone is dealing with at home. The family appears to be very close. Mom is a Veterinarian.
A high profile couple like this may chose to deal with mental problems of their child privately. This is probably not the first time this 30 yr old daughter has acted out in a violent manner. Perhaps the only reason she was arrested this time is because of the severity and because the police were summoned along with the ambulance.
Steve is a personal friend, a solid Christian and all around great guy. His daughter is just not right. Steve has been open about the challenges with his daughter. This came as a shock to his parish community.
The daughter is afraid that women might become subject to the draft so she is making sure that she gets sent to Group W.
Don’t know anything about him, but what a gracious statement. So sad for that family.
