WASHINGTON, Feb 7 (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden on Monday warned that if Russia invades Ukraine, there would be no Nord Stream 2, but did not specify how he would go about ensuring the controversial pipeline would not be used.
Speaking at a joint news conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Biden said, "If Russia invades... again, then there will be longer Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it."
When asked how he would do that, he responded, "I promise you we will be able to do it."
Europe's most divisive energy project, Nord Stream 2 is designed by Russian energy giant Gazprom to double the amount of gas flowing from Russia straight to Germany, bypassing traditional transit nation Ukraine.
The United States and Germany have sought to present a united front against potential Russian military aggression in Ukraine, with Biden declaring the two in "lockstep" despite questions over Berlin's commitment to scuttle the important energy pipeline.

“I just noted that a prominent ultra-liberal WaPo/Atlantic reporter is married to the former Polish Defense Minister, and current Polish MEP.”
But why? It brings nothing to your argument. If she had written something that would support your position, then you should have included it. If not, there is no reason to even mention her.
It’s like posting a story about a bank robber and then adding that his wife went to LSU, and enjoys working in the garden. So what?
I doubt I would trust anyone on the WaPo editorial board, but some here seem to demand deference..
“Referring to somebody who you claim is Jewish...”
Well, she is. Read her bio on Wikipedia.
“...fabricate evil motives, and fling them at the one who made the referral?”
I posed a question, because there was no reason for him to include her in his collage. Ergo, there must have been some other purpose. And since McGee is fond of assigning guilt to people on a whimsey, on what pretext did he include her? Was it the age old historical boogeyman, the Jews?
“If you want to defend Biden, you might have better luck convincing others on a different website.”
You are just like McGee: You assume facts not in evidence; you rush to judgment, and jump to conclusions. I am not defending Biden; but I demand the same thing I would demand if you were charged with murder: Proof!
Have you forgotten that under our laws, one is innocent until proven guilty? And we’re not talking about some gangbanger who robbed a bodega; we’re talking about the president of the United States, whom McGee — in his own Court of Travis McGee — has already charged and convicted of committing acts of war.
I detest Biden; but you are doing America no favors by declaring yourself judge, jury, and executioner.
And you guys have the gall to call US Nazis.
Dude, stop humiliating yourself. Frankly, I'm embarrassed for you. This is how it must felt to be a Tass or Pravda reporter, reporting record grain harvests while millions starved in the USSR. Do you have a baseline of shame? [I guess not.]
Atlantic/WaPo reporterette Annie Applebaum's hubbie, the former Polish defense minister, didn't delete his tweet. Instead, he proudly RT'd it. I made a new screen grab, just for you.
[But tellingly, Sikorski did change his top Twitter banner from "Me Shaking Hands with Joe Biden, both grinning at each other!" to "I stand with Ukraine."]
0-6: Don't you EVER get tired of humiliating yourself in public?
Why do you keep bringing religion into the argument? NOBODY knew, or cared, before you brought it up.
Do you have ANY shame? Goodness. You really plumb the depths.
“I just noted that a prominent ultra-liberal WaPo/Atlantic reporter is married to the former Polish Defense Minister, and current Polish MEP.”
You said no such thing in your collage. There is no mention at all of her being an “ultra-liberal” reporter. And so what if she is married to the guy? What the hell does that have to do with your position on the pipeline incident?
“I found it interesting she’s a dual Polish/American citizen.”
So what? She’s married to a Pole.
“Her husband congratulated America for blowing up the Russian pipelines. The exact same day that the Norway-Poland pipeline opened up.”
But she didn’t! Is she thus guilty by marriage in the Court of Travis McGee?
“Why did you feel the need to inject religion? WTF, over?”
Why did you feel the need to include her in your collage?
Stop humiliating yourself. This is ritual self abuse at this point. It’s degrading to see an adult do this.
“Why do you keep bringing religion into the argument?”
Because there was no reason for you to even mention her. But you did. In such instances, one looks for ulterior motives for including her. Since there is nothing readily apparent, one must consider the possibility of a scapegoat. And, who is the historical, default scapegoat?
“Do you have ANY shame? Goodness. You really plumb the depths.”
Nice try, Sparky. When you rush to judgment, expect to get some pushback.
“Stop humiliating yourself. This is ritual self abuse at this point. It’s degrading to see an adult do this.”
I’m not humiliating myself. I’m exposing you for the phony you are.
Please schedule an urgent appt with your B&D / SM mistress in the usual dungeon.
You will feel a lot better for it.
The rest of us can only stare in awe at your ability to soak up humiliation.
“Please schedule an urgent appt with your B&D / SM mistress in the usual dungeon.”
I knew it was just a matter of time before you segued into sexual fetishes and kink, which seems to be your controlling fixation.
You and so many other pro-Russia FReepers are consumed by it, as evidenced by the juvenile labels you apply to those with whom you disagree.
Grow up, McGee. You’ve been in the 7th grade long enough; it’s time to move on.
“I doubt I would trust anyone on the WaPo editorial board, but some here seem to demand deference..”
Trust her on what? SHE DIDN’T SAY ANYTHING! It’s just her picture and a short bio! She made no comment, drew no conclusion, nor did she even nod agreement.
You all are a hoot.
I don’t trust Wikipedia, but let’s say she is really 100% Jewish. All races have good people and evil people. Based on her statements about Trump, in her case I would say the latter is true. What do you think about him? I didn’t agree with his decision not to help Assange, but overall I think he is by far the best POTUS since Reagan’s first term.
But what does that have to do with the subject at hand? I get it: She hates Trump. But how does that relate to McGee’s collage about the pipelines, and America’s alleged involvement? What you did here is known as a strawman fallacy.
“What do you think about him? I didn’t agree with his decision not to help Assange, but overall I think he is by far the best POTUS since Reagan’s first term.”
Trump? I think he’s great. I voted for him in 2016 and again in 2020. Trump and Reagan are, to me, the best presidents we’ve had, at least in my lifetime (I’m in my 70s). I think Trump could have rivalled Reagan if not surpassed him, if he had been allowed to govern without the never-ending war against him by the Dems, the MSM (But I repeat myself), and the RINOs, and been able to serve that second term.
I don’t know if she had any beforehand knowledge or direct involvement with the pipeline skulduggery, but her marriage to Sikorski and her ideology tells me that I should not trust either of them. I am glad Travis made me aware of their marriage.
Glad to hear that.
How does the pipeline that wasn’t sabotaged compare to the one that was, in terms of capacity, reliability, and when it can start flowing?
You caught him before Puddin’ and Pills time...
