The “partial mobilization” of Russian men to fight in Putin’s War in Ukraine is shaping up pretty much the fiasco we thought it would be (see Vladimir Putin to Address Russia; Annexation of Ukraine Provinces and Mobilization Seem to Be on the Table). It is equal parts black comedy, political thriller, and tragedy. But, don’t worry, the comedic and thriller elements will go away very soon.
The war in Ukraine has left Russia facing a military personnel crisis. About 75% of Russia’s regular ground forces participated in the opening act of the Special Military Operation (SMO). These were reinforced by Russian “National Guard” or Rosgvardiya; these are riot police and interior ministry security troops who report directly to Putin (for more on them, read Top General in Putin’s Personal Army Is Arrested by FSB). By late March, Putin decided to call up 100,000 reservists, supposedly all with combat experience, and to bring the Wagner Group mercenaries under military control.
Seven months into the war, Putin had to go back to the mobilization well. By styling his invasion as an SMO rather than a war, he placed all conscript soldiers off limits to combat duty. Under Russian law, contract soldiers can quit any time they wish…like when they’ve been notified they are heading to combat. The front covered by Russian troops is about 600 miles, roughly the distance from Washington, DC, to Atlanta. With the number of troops available, they have been hard-pressed to defend the frontage, constitute a mobile reserve, and rotate units out of the line for rest.

Putin declared the mobilization on 9/21. It’s 6 days later and Ukraine is already capturing newly mobilized troops. That means they got less than a week of training. Some reports say they are only getting a day of training. You have to allow some time for travel, so they couldn’t’ have gotten much.
One poor confused guy in the story had gone from Russian homebody dad to mobilized soldier to POW in Ukraine in just three days!
I don’t believe the stories...mobilizations take time. I think the propaganda time distortion mills are on overdrive.
Well it’s always hard to know the truth.
But it does pass the smell test.
Fact is Russia needs to reinforce it’s troops asap.
And there were reports of people being grabbed from their homes in the middle of the night the same day that Putin made the announcement.
And there was the Russian MP who said they could be deployed with just 2 weeks training. But since then I’ve seen multiple reports of soldiers saying they were only getting 1 day of training.
Granted, everyone in the reserves had at least a year of military. But to send them out without any update or refresher is just insane.
But Putin’s insane, so it’s possible.
sounds like putin is gonna use the cloward-piven strategy to collapse the Ukes with hundreds of thousands of “prisoners” that they’ll have to house, feed, and clothe ...
Putin wants to recreate the Soviet Union, and now everyone wants to leave it again. History repeats itself as people vote with their feet.
How much training do you need to catch some shrapnel?
I’m not sure I’d worry about the shrapnel as much as I would worry about Russian commanders putting me out of my misery over a little shrapnel.

Something to keep an eye on.
Ukraine intel says Russians targeting Uman with Iranian drones ‘to attack Hasidic Jews’

This “mobilization” is reminiscent of Hitler’s “volkssturm” in Nazi Germany’s final days of WWII. People who were infirm, too old, too young and otherwise unfit for military duty were thrown into a losing effort.
Hopefully one for the near future as pertains to Putin: Termination.
Actually the Ukes can broadcast copious amounts of video into Russia of captured conscripts enjoying a much better existence than as Putin’s cannon fodder.
Did they teleport there?
Well, there are two ways for the reluctant Russians to survive...
Flee or hide...
Or,
Surrender immediately when sent to the fight.
Russian commander, who has just been drafted himself, tells his recently drafted recruits about the mobilization. He says that nobody knows anything, there is absolute chaos, and nobody cares about them.

If we just spend another 100 Billion Russia will be on the ropes! It is starting to sound like: “The walls are closing in on Trump!” stories.
