Bill Maher says he’s no longer predicting that Democrats will be pummeled in the midterm elections, with abortion offering a “turning point” on momentum.
“Things have really turned around,” Maher told ITK in a recent interview.
“The Republicans are the dog that caught the car with abortion,” the HBO “Real Time” host said of the Supreme Court’s June ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which overturned the federal right to the abortion established by Roe v. Wade.
“They’ve been trying to do this for 50 years, and then now you notice that the Republican candidates don’t even want to be asked about the subject. And sometimes when they do get asked about it, they kind of backtrack: ‘Abortion, I guess I heard something about a ruling recently,’” Maher said.

There's plenty of talk right here on FR. There's a whole lot of talk in the campaign commercials and appearances of candidates and their reps. And then there's the MSM, where it is ubiquitous. The SC ruling itself fell off because that is about states' rights in the matter. The election is about righties making women have babies, even if it would literally kill them, even young girls who have been raped by their grandpas.

Id like to see some GOP candidate run an ad showing a partial birth abortion. Then the simple line that their opponent supports this.
That really is what the issue is. The dems don’t just support abortion. They support unrestricted abortion. Up to and after birth.

An obsession fomented by their own naive subjectivity influenced by the participation in talking point group-think activism.
These crybabies don’t care about right and wrong, only what they want and believe they might loose... and to-hell with whatever anyone else thinks or how it tramples on the rights/privileges of others.

He is certainly correct in that Roe v Wade has benefited the Dems. If that had not happened, they would be completely on the ropes. Sometimes I wonder if it was not about states rights but rather about giving Dems an issue to run on. I really wish it had not occurred this year. I know a lot of people do not like that, but the stakes are very high. I believe if the Dems are able to cling to and consolidate their power, abortion will not just be allowed, in many cases it will be mandatory.

Seriously, the confirmation bias runs heavy during election season.
If you are a dem and know you are going to get shellacked, you create the exit by which you won’t and believe it.
If you are a Republican, you see the media report that abortion is the issue and the only issue and you believe it because it confirms your fears.
But objectively speaking, I have not seen abortion ranked high enough on the list of issues ranked as important by most voters. If it were, Joe Biden wouldn’t be out there screaming at you that “INFLATION ISN’T THAT BAD” or “YOU DON’T CARE ABOUT GAS PRICES” like someone who is telling you what not to be concerned about, knowing you are concerned, and finally giving up and ordering you not to care.
Abortion runs rampant in this country and is everywhere.
I mean, the economy is being aborted everyday in front of our eyes.
I hope the Democrat party loses 2/3 of their seats.

Unfortunately sacrificing babies is very important to a certain demographic no matter the party affiliation. If not for inflation it could be the issue driving too many voters.
You forget that the Dems are making abortion an economic issue. They are basically claiming that women will now be brood cows unable to help put food on the table because they are tied down to maternal slavery.
