Russia's defence ministry has revealed a host of occupations it says will be exempted from conscription aimed at boosting its war effort in Ukraine.

IT workers, bankers and journalists working for state media will escape the "partial mobilisation" announced by President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday.

Around 300,000 citizens face being called up as part of the drive.

The move has prompted a rush towards borders as young men attempt to flee to evade the draft.

Announcing the exemptions on Friday, Russia defence ministry said employers must compile a list of workers who meet the criteria and submit it to its offices.

But it accepted some sectors had to be excluded to "ensure the work of specific high-tech industries, as well as Russia's financial system".

The train up time for experienced Ukrainian tankers would not be that bad for the advanced tanks. The turret mechanics and other maintenance guys would have a long train up. I’m not sure what type of blue force tracker would be in the tanks but FBCB2 type systems (if they resisted jamming/electronic countermeasures) would open up another advantage over and above the superior armor and survivability of Western tanks. Yes, Western tanks can be knocked out but when a task organized battalion goes for an objective, most will get there.

Something simple and interesting that did not receive much coverage.

What Was the Unmanned Boat That Washed up Near Sevastopol, Crimea?

Three-minute video.

https://youtu.be/I8CeJ3QUeHs

This appeared and the Russian fleet disappeared from the area.

Perhaps it is the only one existing and just happened to wash ashore?

Working or not this shows how the wily Ukrainians keep on top.

The Ukrainian government does not usually disclose casualty figures, but the soldiers and commanders interviewed in the past week portrayed the battlefield losses as “high” and “massive.” They described large offensives in which columns of Ukrainian tanks and armored vehicles tried to cross open fields only to be pounded mercilessly by Russian artillery and blown up by Russian mines.

One Ukrainian soldier, speaking anonymously because he was not authorized to publicly discuss casualties, said that during a recent assault, “we lost 50 guys in two hours.” In another place, said the soldier, who works closely with different frontline units, “hundreds” of Ukrainian troops were killed or wounded while trying to take a single village, which is still in Russian hands.
