Yeah. His response was typically narcissistic.

Here is the real concern. This is a nightmare for Tampa bay. It is in the exact right spot and speed to decimate Tampa with flooding. All eyes will be there for the storm surge.

Not going to be a good week along the west coastal areas of florida.

Are people in ever going to learn to build right that live in these zones? The same yr New Orleans was destroyed by a Cat 2 Taiwan was hit by a Cat 4 with very little damage.

Guess you don’t live where hurricanes make landfall. Lucky for you. There is nothing funny about it.

Your missing the boat on this one. Tampa is vulnerable to an enormous storm surge due to the local topography. This storm just off the coast will stuff a serious amount of water up the bay and is more likely than not to inundate everything on the bay.

People should be running from the water. While the main event will. Kr be wind, the surge is what I am hearing from emergency operations is what is making a lot of people who manage emergencies worried.

If this track holds there will be serious damage in Tampa and destruction related to surge.

I'm 74 and have moved enough times to settle in a geographical area best suited for my geriatric body . . . by choice, by plan, and not without a certain amount of sadness leaving loved ones, church and mechanic.

Sorry . . . I'm not being funny, I was smart before I got to where I am now.

Why would anyone intentionally live in an area that is annually nailed with catastrophic weather ?

I don't get that.

Feel your pain.
Hard to think about anything else.
Of course, Ike was the last hurricane to damage Ohio.
Probably be different if I was close to the path.

So it’s all fun and games for the “outsiders” to view it on their tee vee? Hurricanes, any category, are brutal and devastating. Been through too many to feel good about watching lives destroyed in real time.

And after the second year of spending MY money to PREpare, REpair and otherwise expend money and energy midlanders don't . . . I'd be seriously looking for another location.

The USA is the most magnificent piece of real estate on God's earth and I don't read in my Bible that I should live where I'm going to get continually beat up . . . turn my cheek, yeah . . . sure . . . but STAY there ?

Don't think so

My sister was caught in one, when she was visiting a city. She said that it was weird hearing 8 hours of a freight train coming from direction and then, after the eye passed, 8.hours of another freight train coming seemingly from the other direction.

I can’t do anything about the lives and property destroyed. But it would help outsiders understand what is happening.

In 2004-05 there were multiple near misses and hits on South Florida. Wilma sat on us for 24 hours. Everyone in the country was focused on the poor black people in New Orleans recovering from Katrina a month earlier and our Governor didn’t want tourism impacted, so we got little coverage of the devastation.

We had no water for a week, no power for 16 days, and when they did restore power to my house they set it on fire. That was the last straw.

After 43 years in Florida, we moved to New Mexico. No natural disasters.

Yes, if it makes landfall north of Tampa, as the current Hurricane Center track shows, water will be pumped into Tampa Bay. If it hits south of Tampa, as other models show, it will suck water out of the bay. Joe Bastardi covered this in his Saturday Summary (link at my post #30).

Yep. My go to. Tons of information. Almost too much for me and I’m a weather geek.
We are here until Jim Cantore is in town. If he shows up we’re gonna get out of dodge.🤣
Seriously though if this thing turns East my interest in Florida will be greatly affected.
