Airforce is finding Hurricane Strength winds in the center of Ian.

Government flood insurance enables this behavior. If government got out of that market, people would be a lot more careful, because if they built on or near the beach, a private insurer would say, “I’m not touching this!”
I’d rather take that risk than stay stuck in the People’s Republik of Maryland.
Been texting her this morning. Her hubby’s sis used to it. Lived there for decades.
Hotels north will be booking soon.
Hopefully stalls out over Cuba
Prayers for safety for all involved
Contrary to the protestations of some on here, Florida is not the only place hit by these storms. I rode out Sandy in Maryland, and while our winds didn’t quite hit hurricane strength, that’s basically what it sounded like: a constant thundering, like a freight train.

Per this morning 5 AM updated forcast track...http
The 2am marker point for Ian’s location, puts it just West of Tampa Bay. An incoming tide along with the storm surge and wind on top of it. High tide for Tampa Bay is 4am Thursday morning, right as the storm is pushing a storm surge inland. This (plus 8” of rain) isn’t good for them at all.

The opposite effect happened during Irma, which sucked the water out of the bay. Images...

And NM is run by Democrats, as far as I know. Good luck with that; in the long run, they’re worse than hurricanes.

Ian will be a 1 or 2 when it makes landfall in Florida
A lot of time these storms cause serious flooding inland. Most people associate Hurricane Camille with the Gulf Coast, but it killed over 100 in Virginia due to flooding.
Going to be a bad one. Hopefully it falls apart but the models are not suggesting that.
Riding out a hurricane is something I will not willingly do. For all those in the path, my prayers are with you and if you are in low lying areas head north and west.
Yep. They’re late this year. Hurricanes season started in June. A very late start.
“I’d rather hear about militia movements in my neighborhood I can join up with.”
So, you’re a follower. Try being a leader and create your own.
“One thing I wish meteorogists would do is install sturdy cameras to catch a hurricane in real time so those of us outside hurricane zones could see a storm in real time.”
Don’t be so lazy. Come on down and check it out for yourself. Why watch the world go by vicariously?
I’m a 74 yo type A trapped in a no go body . . . . thanx for playin’
My guess is I 75 will be turned around at some point today or tomorrow
Ugly situation for Tampa bay region
I would love to do that to be honest, as long as I can find a safe spot.
But I might miss it.
“Contrary to the protestations of some on here, Florida is not the only place hit by these storms.”
Including many places in the northeast.
“I would love to do that to be honest, as long as I can find a safe spot.”
If you think there is a safe spot then you do not understand hurricanes at all. Stay home, you’re too stupid to be out alone.
So, you just sit there and bitch. If you’re bitching there is no militia to join then you’re capable of creating one too. Nice try, Sunshine.
