So you’re admitting it is stupid to drive an EV more than a couple hundred miles from home.
And insurance companies will spread the risk posed by EVs parked in attached garages to all of their insurance customers.
Force everyone onto ONLY one method of transportation—and you have a captive audience you hammer as you please.
The FUD from the anti-EV Luddites on FR is ridiculous. It’s clear that the lot of you have never so much as touched a Tesla…
“The FUD from the anti-EV Luddites on FR is ridiculous.”
We have fun when government forces this crap down our throats - it’s our way of dealing with it.
I’m not in favor of the government dictates. If you want an EV, buy one; if you don’t, don’t.
Green like in gangrene
“Electricity is 43 cents a kilowatt. “
12 cents here.
“I’m not in favor of the government dictates. If you want an EV, buy one; if you don’t, don’t.”
That’s fine, and I think you may have said that prior. I’m sure you know that my post was sarcasm, claiming no one travels out of home-charging range.
And it’s not EVs per se, for if our entire infrastructure were designed for EVs, and then someone invented gasoline engines, and then government forced us all to convert to gasoline, we’d have fun with that, too.
But in this case, it’s clear to most here that the mandates and conversion to EVs will SEVERELY LIMIT personal freedoms, in a number of ways that gasoline cars do not. So we’re a pissed about that.
For those who can do an energy balance, it should cost a bit more.
No matter what the media says, your monthly transportation cost is far less by keeping your current gas engine car. And if you’re a 2 job family, then it is huge difference over going ev.
And far more reliable. Would you want to be stuck in a hurricane ian traffic jam in an ev?
“The figures in that chart are misleading. They don’t mention the additional charges the electric companies impose.
They say PA rates are $0.097 per kWh, with the added charges, I am paying around $0.20 per kWh, more than double.”
Your post is misleading. You get those on your base load. EV charging would be not be subject to all those charges.
My average rate is about $0.20 but each additional kwhr is $0.12.
>>> Again, opponents* fail to grasp that most EV owners charge most EVs at home most of the time. <<<
I’m not opposed to EVs for short daily errands.
Fast forward 5-7 years. The pinheads will have their wind/solar energy during daylight hours. Home chargers however, will plug-in when the sun goes down and wind stops. Without gargantuan batteries, you’re screwed. The tech/grid ain’t ready for EVs.
pack of lies
some real numbers are ...
