Strange how you bring up obsolete war fighting techniques and then talk about blockades. Blockade with what and how? Sitting duck warships? We have missiles now.
The Chinese ringed Taiwan with ships after Pelosi visited. All could have been taken out within minutes.

I am wondering how difficult it would be to strafe CCP troop transports crossing the ocean to Taiwan. Pour lots of firepower on them with drone planes, to discourage them before they even hit the beaches.

Psst, the Chicoms have missiles. The Chicoms have missiles that can sink any ship, including American aircraft carriers, that approaches Taiwan. Of course, you seem to foresee Operation Overlord II. Why destroy Taiwan in process of repossessing it? Why start now to spend the hundreds of billions to build the unnecessary sealift capability to hit the beaches? Blockades work. Just because they have worked for thousands of years doesn’t make the concept wrong. What obsolete war fighting technique are saying I brought up?
The real problem is you have to destroy Taiwan to conquer it.
Its people and industry are what makes it desirable.
Kill that and you have a nice base, that is a good target, for a pissed off world.

Can you cite any recent success of blockade? Which war have they been a determining factor?
If Russia cannot take on Ukraine in a situation where they are immediate next door neighbors and the attack was a surprise by forces that were familiar with the territory that they were attacking, then the idea of China successfully attacking Taiwan in a very well advertised invasion across over 100 miles of water, is absurd. Oh, and now the Taiwanese know that the road to victory is paved with thousands of drones...and Taiwan is THE leading semi-conductor producer on Earth.
Yeah, Xi might want to rethink his invasion - it’ll be the biggest disaster in that part of the world since a storm destroyed the Mongols who were attemting to invade Japan.
China is NOT full of supermen, and they have an authoritarian, top-down, leadership that is utterly incapable of changing strategy and tactics quickly enough on the modern battlefield to ever hope to be victorious. China will be given a huge bloody nose if it attempts to invade Taiwan.
