Defeated Rhode Island GOP candidate for governor endorses Democratic incumbent (golly gee, what a shock!)

McKee ascended to the governorship last year after his predecessor, Gov. Gina Raimondo, vacated the post to head the Commerce Department for the Biden administration. He had served as lieutenant governor at the time. He narrowly evaded a primary defeat against former CVS executive Helena Foulkes, who enjoyed a last-minute resurgence that may have been partially attributable to the backing of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who was roommates with her mother in college.

Now that McKee has survived his primary, he is favored to win the governor's race in the deep-blue Ocean State, given its political dynamics.

"Governor Mckee, a lifelong resident of this state. Former Mayor, community advocate, small business owner," Riccitelli added. "Never left when former administrations made it difficult to conduct business here in our State, he rose to the occasion. Ashley Weinzeig-Kalus has yet to be honest with herself. We just don't know what to expect."

Riccitelli, who underscored that his endorsement of McKee comes without "hesitation," is not the only Rhode Island Republican to buck the party. Democratic congressional contender Seth Magaziner recently rolled out endorsements from four former election Republican officials, including former Rep. Claudine Schneider (R-RI), who was the last Republican to hold Rhode Island's 2nd Congressional District, which Magaziner is vying for against former Cranston Mayor Alan Fung.

“The Republican Party of today is not the one that inspired me to run and represent the Second Congressional District in 1980,” Schneider wrote in a letter, the Public's Radio reported. "It is now the party of insurrectionist Donald Trump."

“Republican Jonathan Riccitelli, who has been arrested dozens of times since 2000 under a different name, with charges ranging from obstructing police officers to assault, The Boston Globe reported.” (from another article)

What a worthless tool this guy is.

I would almost argue that the entire New England region of the US NE is just utterly filled with RINOs. Personally, can’t remember the last time an actual Conservative Republican ran or was elected there.

Sound like a Democrat plant. Assumed a new name... no prior office held... campaigns on attack mode the entire campaign... criminal history.

I’m not thinking this guy is even a RINO... No prior office, and he lost by 87%.

I doubt that a Jonathan Riccitell endorsement of anyone has much of an effect either way, as his reputation seems to proceed him. 😋

A week ago I was at a remote broadcast of a Boston talk show host (Howie Carr,a huge Trump supporter) which was held in New Hampshire. He had as a guest on his show the Republican candidate for one of the state's two Congressional districts. She was outstanding! Worked for DJT in DC,supports DeSantis on immigration, talked about the economy and crime. It's said that NH's Rat Senator and at least one of their two Cogresscreatures are vulnerable this year. Boston TV stations are awash with ads from Hassan (Rat Party Senator) claiming to be "bipartisan" but most of her ads scream "abortion, abortion, abortion".

Of course she's well funded (Boston,New York,San Francisco) but she does seem to be frightened.

Hmm, interesting.

When I lived in New Hampshire (Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for a time), I meet some conservative Republican folks who were some great people to hang around with but most Repubs I met there were really just RINOs. Maybe thins have changed, been a decade plus since I been there.

Ms Schneider, the party left you behind, because President Trump shined the light on you so-called Republicans, and you wanted to ruin the nation with Democrats. Like at the Mill towns in the second CD and you helped with the ruination of the textile industry. So, you can GO F YOURSELF! You Piece of 💩.

New England Republicans are, mostly center-left democrats everywhere else. I live in Connecticut and around here politics are a race to the bottom.

Karoline Leavitt - sounded awesome, I just hope she's not one of the politicians that "tell 'em what they want to hear in order to get elected" and then does the opposite.
